TL;DR - I need help uploading ".aic" files to my Cloud Files, but I get an error message "Filetype not supported". How can I solve this?
Here's the long story:
After deleting a user from our team and reclaiming his files I received a download link with two .zip files (Cloud Documents.zip and Libraries.zip) containg all of the files he stored in the Adobe Cloud.
I expanded the Cloud Documents.zip and because we work mainly with Illustrator, most of the files had the ".aic" extension, which stands for "Adobe Illustrator Cloud File". Now what I need to do is upload those files to my Adobe Cloud files, but I keep getting an error message "Filetype not supported".
I have tried uploading them to my Files Cloud from both http://assets.adobe.com/files and directly from the Creative Cloud app, but I keep getting the same message.
-----
Already tried these solutions, to no avail.
-Tried Adobe support but they are as helpful as a rock.
-Renamed file extensioins from ".aic" to ".ai" but Illustrator won't read it, and trying to upload it will give me a "file is damaged" kinda error.
-Moved all the files to my synced files folder (on mac: user/Creative Cloud Files), and while I now can see the files listed on my synced files in http://assets.adobe.com/files (synced option), I can only: preview, rename, move or copy them.

Any, I just tried saving a Photoshop, Illustrator and an XD file, they were all saved to the Cloud without problems.

if you're trying to work around adobe's limitations, you're probably going to keep encountering problems.

What limitations are you talking about?
.aic files are Adobe native files, Creative Cloud is an official Adobe app.
What I did was followed by Aodbe official troubleshoot documents.

Yes I can. I have no problem with saving documents with the cloud.
My problem is uploading files to the cloud documents.

how do you create an aic file that's not saved to someone's cloud documents? ie, open in ai, and click save/save as for cloud

I don't know how to create them.
What I know is that if you Reclaim Assets from a removed user, Adobe will send all the files that the user had in his/her Cloud as a .Zip file on your e-mail, which is what I'm going through. I received a zip file full of .aic documents from a removed user. Now I need to upload those .aic files to MY cloud.
As you can see from the official Adobe documents I linked, I am following what should be standard Adobe procedures. But there is an error from their side, since the cloud won't accept its own .aic files.

For anyone with similar problems.
I was not able to solve this, but I was able to open .aic files on Mac by:
1) Right click on a .aic file.
2) Click "Open With > Other"
3) Navigate to the where the Illustrator app is installed in your file directory.
4) The Illustrator app will be grayed out. Change the option below the files "Enable: Recommended Applications" to "Enable: All Applications". The app will become active.
5) Double click the app... done!
After opening the files, you can "Save As" and save to your Computer, which will create .ai files.

Easier solution.
Just drag your .aic file into the Illustrator app.

this was already suggested and won't help the op who may have a large number of files to salvage.

Excuse me, when was it suggested?
Also, I stated in the solution:"I was not able to solve this". This is a workaround, would you mind solving the problem, because yes, I do have a large number of files. Please do solve it.

I believe you're lost in translation. I did not want to create an aic file, I have hundreds of them.
Also, "Open in ai" was not enough, because Illustrator won't let you open it by double-clicking or by "File open". You specifically need to drag-drop or open through the file (right clicking it).
I appreciate you trying to help though.
