Hi
We are trying to deploy Indesign CS6 using App-V 5 on provisioned Xenapp 6.5 servers. I have tried different solutions without any luck.
Making an install packet using AAMEE 3.1. Sequencing packet in App-V. According to the AAMEE manual this would remove the “machine dependency” in the packet and serializing it.
Using this solution we are able to start Indesign once on every server. The next time we try to start it crashes. We can see it starts up adobe_licutil.exe just before chashing.
We have also tried using adobe_prtk.exe to serialize the installation using prov.xml without any luck.
Can anyone point us in the right direction? AAMEE or Trial with adobe_prtk.exe, a combination or something else?
Best regards
Morten

Hi msn9000aa,
We have conducted limited testing of some products in virtualized or server-based environments. Please find the Adobe general virtualization document for support boundaries: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/technical-support-boundaries-virtualized-or.html.

Hi Romit
Thanks for your reply.
I know this is kind of unsupported but we have been running CS2 and CS4 in our Citrix environment for over a decade and are not looking for a good old client installation.
The document you are referring to does mention Known Issues regarding to our issue. But there is no date in the document and it says AAMEE version 3.x.
One of the changes from version 3.0 til 3.1 is addressing this issue though.
This explains the AAMEE 3.0 way: http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2012/06/imaging-cs6-attack-of-the-clones.html pay attention to the update in the top, witch is the AAMEE 3.1 way: http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2012/09/aamee-3-1or-why-puffer-fish-is-a-delicacy.html
Reading this I can conclude there was introduced some "features" in CS6 making it harder to distribute unlicensed. Also making it harder to install and use for the enterprises who pay a lot of bucks for the applications...
As i stated in my first post we have tried at lot of solution and are looking for some directions. The AAMEE way or the prov.xlv way or maybe a script to register the installation every time the servers reboot.
Best regards

Hi msn9000aa,
Sorry for the confusion. As we know that Adobe CS2 and CS4 are very old products so I am afraid there is no way we can use prtk.
Prtk was designed for CS5 and above and is used to serialize Adobe product. We have different version of prtk for CS5/CS5.5 and CS6. However I will work to find a solution for the same if any and let you know accordingly.
Please refer the CS4 deployment guide: http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/DeployGuide.....

Hi Romit
No problem but I am even more confused right now. You are talking about CS2 and CS4 now. We are migrating away from these products. This thread i about CS6 and the installation in App-V 5 in a provisioned Citrix XenApp enviroment.
Best regards

Hi msn9000aa,
Sorry again for the confusion. I thought you were trying to deploy CS4. For CS6 please refer the CS6 deployment guide: http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/AdobeApplica....
There are two ways we can serialize a file:
1. Using AAMEE 3.1 and creating a serialize file and running it on the machine to license the software. Detailed information is mentioned in the guide above.
2. Using APTEE for serialization. Please refer the kb: http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/Adobe_Provis....
However as mentioned in my earlier thread please refer the kb: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/technical-support-boundaries- virtualized-or.html for suppot boundries related to virtualized enviroment.
