Does Remote Update Manager apply Creative Cloud Desktop updates?

Greetings,

We use RemoteUpdateManager (RUM) on Windows and macOS to update Acrobat, Photoshop, etc. We have noticed that the documented list of possible --productVersion=XYZ product codes does not include Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop. Does anyone know if RUM supports updating Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop?

There was one macOS system where RemoteUpdateManager continually failed to update any products until I accessed it graphically and ran updates from Creative Cloud Desktop. Afterwards, RemoteUpdateManager began working again. This makes me suspect that RUM might not support Creative Cloud Desktop, though of course there are other explanations.

There seems to have been a similar thread ("remote update manager creative cloud app") back in 2015 with a few related conclusions:

• "Creative cloud apps is an utility to install Adobe creative cloud apps individually and use Adobe online services. RUM will not invoke update for this utility."
  • My interpretation: I'm not sure if "Creative cloud apps" is actually the same thing as "Creative Cloud Desktop."
• "Adobe creative cloud desktop client works on automatic update workflow whenever Adobe releases. You can create a package for Creative cloud desktop only using creative cloud packager and then deploy to user's machines and they will have an updated version of creative cloud desktop."
  • My interpretation: We specifically disable the "Allow non-admins to update and install apps" due to security mandates. We therefore probably can't rely on this workflow.

Does anyone have any tips they could share with us about how to keep Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop up-to-date using a command-line utilty?

Hello,

Unfortunately, you could not update the creative cloud desktop app using Remote Update Manager. You can create a package from the admin console which could be used for the deployment.
