How can I hide paid tools?

Hi everybody,

I need to deploy Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on thousands of computers in the school.

I do not want users to have access to tools that are not free. For example, when I try the tool "Export PDF" he sent me to a webpage and offers me to buy the full version.

This will generate a lot of helpdesk ticket. I am sure you will understand the issues.

I have tried the solution I have find here: DC Tools Customization but it seems not working. For instance, I imported the followings registry settings without success, the tools remains available:

********************************************* START OF THE REG FILE *********************************************

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown\AcroApp\cDisabled]

"a2"="EditPDFRdrApp"

"a3"="CommentApp"

"a4"="FillSignApp"

"a5"="CollectSignaturesApp"

"a6"="SendAppFull"

"a0"="EPDFApp"

"a1"="CPDFApp"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown\AcroApp\cFavorites]

"a2"="EditPDFRdrApp"

"a3"="CommentApp"

"a4"="FillSignApp"

"a5"="CollectSignaturesApp"

"a6"="SendAppFull"

"a0"="EPDFApp"

"a1"="CPDFApp"

********************************************* END OF THE REG FILE *********************************************

Any help will be very appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

In your registry example, you are setting the disabled tools as favorites. But in any case, you have several options:

Hi

You can disable the apps in the tools tab using the Customization Wizard (Adobe Customization Wizard). You can use the Tools pane in the customization wizard to selectively disable the apps.

Hi vdobhal,

Thank you to take time to answer.

If I am right, you are using the Acrobat DC paid version. In my case, I have the Reader free version and I don't see this "Tools" option as you can see below:

Dear Ben,

I'm testing the solutions that you propsed for this problem but, unfortunately, none of them worked for me.

First, this "tools" option in the Wizard are not available for the Reader version, and second, after adding the registry key in my system, I don't see any change, and I still see shortcuts in "tools" to plenty of paid tools withe the option "add" shown.

I'm making the change in the registy with this command:

REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown\cServices" /v bUpdater /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

However, this is the result:

Hi Barahona,

In my side, I just disable the upsell (and optionnaly all services) through the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC and it works.

Hi everyone,

We've updated Acrobat and Acrobat Reader DC, so that you can determine whether the Tools panel stays opened or closed. Please see: Hide the Tools panel permanently in Acrobat and Acrobat Reader DC.

Regards,

Aadesh

I'm assuming this is done already but if you still need help, check this link for the solution; Adobe Reader DC must disable Acrobat Upsell.
