How do I determine which version of a program CCP will package?

Hi all,

Just starting out with Creative Cloud Packager so I apologize if these are questions with obvious answers.

To begin with, I'd just like to package and deploy the Creative Cloud Desktop application, enabling the option for non-admin users to install and update their CC apps. I launch the packager and create a package for CC Desktop. It does its thing, creates a package, and tells me it's done. So far, so good. However, at no point during the process has it told me what the version number of the CC Desktop app it has packaged is. If I look at the PackageInfo.txt file that is generated it just says:

This package contains following updates

Adobe Application Manager (update14)

If I look closely at the log file, I see a line saying

AdobePackageBuilder - Sucessfully extracted the product at C:\Users\rsteele\AppData\Local\Temp\{44C2B627-1006-4243-BFE7-92E0F73666A7}\ACCCx4_1_1_202

I'm guessing the "4_1_1_202" at the end denotes version 4.1.1.202 of CC Desktop, but if I look at the https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/release-note/cc-release-notes.html and sure enough there is a version 4.1.1.202, but the latest version is 4.2.0.211, released three days ago.

I want to ensure my deployment package is kept up to date, so I'd like to know the answers to the following:

  • Why didn't CCP package the latest version of the CC Desktop app?
  • How do I find out what versions of the CC apps the CCP will be using when I create a deployment package?
  • Why doesn't PackageInfo.txt include the version numbers of the packaged apps?
  • Is there any way to be notified when updates to the CC apps are released so I know when to build new packages?

Thanks!

Hi Rohit,

Thanks for the clarification. Regarding my second question, I see now where the version info is displayed for the CC apps, but it would be nice if the version info for the CC Desktop app could be shown as well.

Regarding my third question, your screenshot shows that the version number is not in fact shown in PackageInfo.txt. Yes, it says "Photoshop CC (2017) (17.0)" for the package, but in fact the specific version number for the Photoshop application itself is 18.1.1, and the version numbers for the individual apps are not shown at all. Having the specific version numbers for the individual apps in here would be very helpful.

Unfortunately, I don't see the notification icon in my Creative Cloud dashboard. It seems there are a few different "dashboards" depending on what kind of customer you are, and the dashboard I have access to is under https://adminconsole.adobe.com/team/. If I try and browse to https://adminconsole.adobe.com/enterprise/ it shows I have no products and there is no Deploy tab.

Thanks for taking the time to address these questions. I hope you can pass my suggestions along to the product team, but if not, please let me know where I should be submitting them.

Thanks Rohit. Can you confirm whether I'm just not looking in the right spot for update notifications, or whether this feature just isn't available for Creative Cloud for Teams customers?

Hi again,

No, that option is not available for Creative Cloud for teams customers.

This notification feature is only available for ETLA or EVip customer as if now.

    • There is no way to know which version of CC Desktop will be installed, however. Fill in the Feature Request/Bug Report Form and ask for that if you would find it useful.
  • Why doesn't PackageInfo.txt include the version numbers of the packaged apps?
  • Is there any way to be notified when updates to the CC apps are released so I know when to build new packages?
    • Yes, through the CC Dashboard, if you are an ETLA or EVip customer.
    • If you are a Teams customer, then no, there isn't. You should submit a Feature Request/Bug Report Form if you think there should be.
