How does licensing work and what do I need

Hello,

I've tried to wrap my head on Adobe Licensing scheme and I can't figure out what I need. Currently, we have Team licence, but I'm open to change that.

My needs are as follow. We have user with specific computer that are using the software. Thus, named licenced for them, even if I don't like them, is OK.

But, I have shared computer where more then one user use the computer and those users used more then one computer. Thus, how does licensing work?

In the past, I've packaged 2015 CC version and once installed and activated, it was activated for everyone on the computer. But how does it work now? Must every one have a licence to use the product on a shared computer? Because I got 40 users sharing 6 computers, the cost is way higher if I need to but 40 licences instead of 6...

As for activation, I've read each licence give you autorisation to activate only 2 computer? So how does my user using more then 2 are gonna do this?

What is the requirement for using azure AD instead of Adobe Account to manage account?

Thank you

Hello,

For Shared computers we have a licensing model i.e. Shared device licensing. This way you can have multiple users work on the same machine.
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/using/licensing.html

Some information on SDL:
1) SDL packages are machine-based. The license count will be counted as per the devices you have installed the application.
2) You can create an SDL package from the Admin console and the license file will be included in the package. You can choose which applications you like to include in the package. It will have all the latest versions of Adobe applications (CC2019/CC2020)
3) On the first launch of Adobe application, it will ask the end-user to sign in. Users must log in with their Adobe / Enterprise ID to use the applications.
4) To use SDL, the users don't need to have any subscription assigned to their account. They just need a valid Adobe / Enterprise ID account.

Help Links:
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/using/create-sdl-packages.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/using/sdl-deployment-guide.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/using/sdl-user-access-policy.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/using/sdl-whats-new.html

You can only activate 2 devices using the named user licensing model. But Shared device is per device model not linked to and individual account.

For Azure, you can setup Azure connector and this way you can sync the user groups form your AD with Adobe Admin console. You can refer to the below article. It has step by step instructions.
(Admin console--> Setings--> Create directpor)

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. There is still some questionning.

For the shared licensing, I see this message:

"Shared Device License is a licensing method targeted at educational institutions where software is assigned to a device instead of an individual". As I'm not a school, I'm still able to acquire these licence? Because it's said I need to be enrolled in the VIP program, which is Education exclusive. Thus, I don't understand how I can have SDL licence.

Thank you
