How to silent uninstall 5.5 before installing 6 using AAMEE?

Hello -

We are a school moving from Master Collection 5.5 to Master Collection 6.  When I installed 5.5, I used the Adobe Application Manager, and I'll be doing the same for 6.  I'd like to uninstall 5.5 first to avoid any confusion by students/teachers, so there is only one version on the machine.  I'm deploying with a KBOX 1000, probably using using a file share.  Win 7 to several hundred machines.

In my KBOX managment utility, I found this for an uninstall command:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDApp.exe --appletID="DWA_UI" --appletVersion="1.0" --mode="Uninstall" --mediaSignature="{D57FC112-312E-4D70-860F-2DB8FB6858F0}"

I found this to work, except it's not silent.  It brings up a screen where I have to press Uninstall.

I need a silent uninstaller, so I can run the 5.5 uninstaller, then run my 6 installer, all within a couple of nice and tidy batch files that I can push out.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Carl Sundermann

Hi Carl,

Did you use AAMEE to deploy your payloads on machine? We recommend using AAMEE for enterprise deployment/uninstallation. this will enable silent deployment and uinstallation of products.

you can download AAMEE and its documentation from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html

you can also clean up CS55 installed products silently - use cleanup utility. please download cleanup utility from http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

refer to page 5 of cleanup utility documentation (embedded in dmg/zip) for silent launch of this utility.

thanks,

Thanks, Rahul.  This only kind of worked, I found it to be more trouble than it was worth.  I just pushed out that uninstall command and went to each machine and hit enter.  Since it was one button push, it didn't take long to walk the building and press one button on the keyboard.

I'd like to see a feature in the next version of AAMEE that would allow a simple tickbox that forces a silent uninstall of any previous Adobe CS products on a given machine.  That would be a nice feature to add.

Thanks!
