How to Update Reader DC Classic Installed From AIP Without Uninstalling and Reinstalling?

We deploy Reader Classic using an AIP and every time we want to apply an update patch, it always fails and we always have to uninstall and manually reinstall.

When I looked up other discussions for people getting error 1642 and other similar errors when applying MSP patches or trying to instal newer versions of Reader over older versions, the solution provided is always "The install must be corrupted. Just uninstall with the removal tool and reinstall" to get around the issue.

This is too much work.

What is the procedure to automate deploying patches to existing systems with Adobe Reader DC Classic without uninstalling and reinstalling each time?

If you have installed via AIP, patch cannot be applied over AIP installation. For more information please see: Administrative Installation Points — Enterprise Administration Guide

If you want to automate deploying patches without uninstalling and reinstalling every time then then directly deploy using bootstrapper (setup.exe). More information at: Bootstrapper Deployment — Enterprise Administration Guide
