Licence Issue With Acrobat 10.0.0

New Here ,
Jan 07, 2015 Jan 07, 2015

We have a site licence for the Adobe Master collection CS6 (including Acrobat 10.0.0).

On installation (as admin), we enter the serial number and open a CS6 and Acrobat application to verify. Acrobat asks to accept the user agreement (which we accept) and it opens with no problem.

now when our standard users log on, and try to open any PDF file, a message appears saying they need to accept the licence agreement before they can open PDF files. We've found to rectify this, the user will have to open Acrobat, leave it open for 30 seconds, then close it and then try to open the PDF file (which opens successfully). As a university, we have many users logging onto the machines and this is happening to all.

Is there a reason why this would be happening and is there a way to stop it?

It looks like the doc could use an update. Here's what to do:

  • Reader (per user): Set Reg pref EULA
  • Reader (all users): Must set via CW or  EULA_ACCEPT property
  • Acrobat (per user): Can only set for browser viewing via EULAAcceptedForBrowser
  • Acrobat (all users): Must set via CW or  EULA_ACCEPT property

There is no reg setting for accepting the Acrobat EULA for all users. Use the Wizard or the cmd line property.

Ben

SLStore :: ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

SLCache::

Win 32 bit: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

Win 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

Sorry,  I misread the inital post.  This is about the EULA not the actual application license.  Look at the ETK's Preference Reference:

PDF Viewer Settings

AdobeViewer (PDF Viewer Settings)

This preference category contains the following subfeature(s):

General Application Settings

Summary table

bLaunched    Caches whether or not the application has ever been launched.

EULA    For Reader, indicates whether the end user license agreement has been accepted by the end user (Reader only).

EULAAcceptedForBrowser    For Acrobat, caches whether the user has accepted the end user license agreement for the browser-based EULA (Acrobat only).

sProductInfoCache    Caches information about the product.

EULAAcceptedForBrowser

Top>AdobeViewer>General Application Settings>EULAAcceptedForBrowser

Data type    boolean: DWORD value > REG_DWORD

Default    0

Version #    7.x and later

HKCU Path    AdobeViewer

HKLM Path    Not lockable

Summary    For Acrobat, caches whether the user has accepted the end user license agreement for the browser-based EULA (Acrobat only).

Details    Reader uses the key EULA. If the EULA is not accepted, the application cannot be used and the Updater is also prevented from running. Possible values include:

0: Show the EULA because it has not been accepted.

1: Don't show the EULA because it has been accepted.

GUI mapping    The EULA acceptance UI when a PDF is opened in browser.

EULA

Summary    For Reader, indicates whether the end user license agreement has been accepted by the end user (Reader only).

My team have tried making the changes suggested, however because this is set to the current user, it is impossible to control this as, being a university, we have many users logging onto different computers.

Adobe Error.PNG

This is the message that is appearing for all of our standard users, even when we accept the EULA as the local administrator.

Is there a centralized way we can stop the EULA prompting for all users?

Did you try using APTEE?

Configuration and licensing — Enterprise Administration Guide

adobe_prtk --tool=EULA --leid=DriverLEID --eulasuppress

That's great, we have tested this and now it seems to be working for all users.

Thanks for your information and help with this.
