I have been having performance issues with Premiere Pro for the past six months at least. The software is slow, the audio and video glitchy even though I have rendered it. There was a delay when clicking on buttons like play, stop, etc. - sometimes long delays, sometimes nothing ever happened. I was getting a message that Adobe Creative Cloud was missing or damaged. The Repair button did not make the menu go away, but I was still able to work somewhat.
I then received this message below.
At one point I could open the software and a project, but when I clicked on anything the software would just crash. So I ended up working with my IT guy, he re-imaged my computer. I am not getting either of the above messages. However, when I have Premiere open all of my other programs slow down (They can be slow when it is not open, but not as bad.) I spend a lot of time looking at screens that say “Not Responding.”
The next thing I tried was uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I can now open Premiere. Open a project. Play for a while. However, it is unworkable because it freezes up, the audio cuts in and out. Both video and audio are glitchy. The buttons don’t respond when you click on them. They have significant lag or don’t work at all. And then it will periodically crash. I have rendered all of my sequences and am using proxies. I have also cleared out unused files from my media cache.
My computer specs are:
Intel Core ™ i7-6820 HQ CPU @ 2.7 GHz
16 GB RaM
NVIDIA Quadro M2000M
SSD
Things I haven’t tried – uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Cloud or going back to an earlier version to see if that works.
