Suppress Autoupdates Acrobat Pro All users

New Here ,
Aug 17, 2011 Aug 17, 2011

Greetings all,

So I have tried every suggesting I've found from other users/admins/developers online as well as Adobe documentation, and have not been able to find anything that works for this.

I've created my Adobe Acrobat Pro X pkg file using Absolute Manages Installease and Iceberg software packages.

I've tried moving the user plist file to Library/preferences.

I've tried moving the user plist file to System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj

According to the Enterprise Administration guide, I should be able to just rename or remove the updater.api from the plug-ins folder but no such file/folder seems to exist.

I have many machines here which are utilized by multiple users. I want to set up my install package to turn off autoupdate feature so that when a new user logs in and opens acrobat, he/she is not asked to update it.

Thus far, nothing has worked.

Any/all responses are appreciated.

Thank you.

TX Mac

I think the updater.api has to exist. What path are you looking in?

Hi Ben,

Updater.api is supposed to be in a plug-ins folder so I checked every

one I could find on the system subsequent to acrobat installation.

Also did a search for anything with the word updater or api in the

name.

Of course, it would have been helpful if the instructions for this in

the guide had included the path...

Just another little tip that Adobe doesnt really want you to do this.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for responding,

MM

I wouldn't try to guess Adobe's intentions from a doc error ;-). . . . Try <root>/Contents/Plug-ins/Updater.acroplugin

There is no <root>/Contents/Plug-ins/Updater.acroplugin

Still trying to resolve this issue...

I've looked everywhere...

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Tthere is on my Mac. I believe you right click and choose Show Package Content, but I don't have the machine at hand right now. See if that works.

There is no updater.api in the package I created, and you can not show

contents on the Adobe installer pkg.

I'm a little frustrated with this issue by now. I think there must be

a way to do this but I have yet to figure it out.

If you have any other ideas, I'm happy to hear them.

Thanks again,

txmac

It's called Updater.acroplugin, not updater.api. Do you see the Plug-ins directory?
