Platform: OSX (Primarily on 10.10 but tested with 10.9.3)
Hi There,
Some background: For an education/enterprise environment, after installing Adobe CC 2014 suite through Creative Cloud Packager with Adobe Update Manager disabled, I'm trying to launch Digital Publishing Suite without success.
When Launching Folio Builder from within InDesign CC 2014, I receive the following notification:
"Digital Publishing Suite
A software update is required to use Digital Publishing Suite. Please go to the Help menu and select Updates to get the required software."
I'm unable to install updates this way as they're disabled through the install.
When attempting to update through remote update manager, the following error observed in the log:
"01/20/15 22:01:49:804 | [WARN] | | AAMEE | Utilities | RemoteUpdateManager | | | 990728 | Update (AdobeDigitalPublishingCC2014-2.0/32.0.0) is not supported by RemoteUpdateManager. Skipping processing of this update."
When attempting to download and install the update manually by running the AdobePatchInstaller.app within the 'AdobeDigitalPublishingCC2014-AdobeUpdate' results in the following:
"Update Failed
Updates could not be applied
Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator.
If the problems persist, contact customer support for further assistance"
Packages have been freshly created with the same results.
Is there another way to install this component of InDesign CC 2014? It's a requirement for our computer labs to include this.
Cheers.

I've since received information of a workaround - listed in a different thread: Unable to install non-standard updates - Cannot launch/update Adobe Digital Publishing for InDesign CC 2014
Try the following to enable updates:
1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0 and you will find a .dat file ( AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat).
2) Please open the file in question and you will find a line item : <Suppressed>1</Suppressed> .
3) Please change the Value from 1 to 0 a

Hi Dareen,
You can create an update only package using creative cloud packager and distribute to client machines. You can also setup adobe update server to invoke updates within an enterprise environment.
Adobe update server : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/update-server-setup-tool.html
Thanks,
Ashish

I'm having the same problem as well. I created a new Creative Cloud package on 1/23/15 with Creative Cloud Packager. I suppressed Updates and only allow them via RUM and I'm pushing them out using Remote Update Manager pointing to our internal Adobe Update Server. I've tested this on OS X 10.9.5.
However, I too get the message:
"Update (AdobeDigitalPublishingCC2014-2.0/32.0.0) is not supported by RemoteUpdateManager. Skipping processing of this update."
Doesn't make much sense to me. I will also try the recommendation you gave to create a package with just that update, but I'm more interesting in knowing why this particular update is not packaged with Creative Cloud Packager to begin with and why it won't install through RUM.

I tried following your advice, but Creative Cloud Packager does not list Digital Publishing Suite anywhere in the applications available for installation.

On a Mac, essentially the same, however location: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
I was given further advice that DPS toolkit updates are not available when you create the deployment package from Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition on Mac OS. (I believe this may be the same using Creative Cloud Packager as you've found)
Deployment DPS Toolkit Update| AAMEE |Mac OS
The above article suggests that you can download and install the DPS update silently, however, an end user must be logged into computer - not really feasible for enterprise environments.
So I guess the process for this would be:
1)Copy the contents of the DPS update package to remote machine
2)Enable updates by modifying the AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat file
3)Remotely launch the DPS update silently (when someone is logged onto machine)
4)Disable updates again when complete...

I just wanted to respond and say that this worked for me. Specifically I was able to follow the KB and script the installation in silent mode. Glad to see that was at least an option, but I wish Creative Cloud Packager could deal with these packages on their own. After all, if I could script it, why can't Creative Cloud Packager which is essentially scripting a bunch of installs as well? Who could I give this feedback to so that it's potentially considered for a future version of Creative Cloud Packager?
