Which account will the files be shared with?

New Here ,
May 20, 2025 May 20, 2025

Hi everyone,

my e-mail address currently has 2 Adobe-Accounts or rather versions of accounts that are active. One is a business-account which my university is the admin of, I think. The other one is a private one which I just now created and booked the student-plan for, because the business-account will be deactivated several days ahead from now.

When people want to share files with my mail-address, which of these accounts will get access to them? Or can I choose with which I want to access the shared file?

Does anyone know? Thanks for your support!

Hi Kanikas,

no sorry this is not helpful at all. I already searched a long while in Adobe's FAQs and every support page I could find.
I need answers from people that might have encountered that problem before or know how it works.

Hi @Nina-Rimy,

Thank you for reaching out. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Upon reviewing your account, I can confirm that your Adobe ID is currently associated with both a Teams and an Enterprise subscription. If someone from your university shares files with you, they will be accessible through your Business Profile.

Since you mentioned that your business account will be deactivated soon, I recommend contacting your university’s IT administrator and requesting that your account be removed from the Admin Console. You can find instructions on how to contact your admin here:
https://adobe.ly/3H1ZEqK

Your admin can follow this guide to remove your account from the enterprise contract:
https://adobe.ly/4mnILaf

Before removal, I also suggest transferring your files and assets to your personal profile to avoid any loss of data. Here's how:

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions.

And if somebody from outside my university shares files with my mail-address? Someone who is completely unrelated to my school? Can I choose with which account I want to access that file then?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I used exactly that list to find a place to post my question, thanks. The best fit, in my opinion, was "account, payment & plan". And I still got no answer to my question.

It is absolutely frustrating and sad that I was in contact with 4 different Adobe employees today and nobody was able to help me with my questions. One simply left the chat after reading my question, the next one told me Adobe only accepts credit card as payment option, which is obviously not true at all and now I get 2 answers to something I did not even ask about. With AI generated text. I really feel cared about.

Thanks for moving the post, I guess.

Hi @Nina-Rimy,

Thank you for reaching out, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

To assist you better, could you please clarify the specific issue you're encountering?

If you're looking to update your payment method, you can follow the steps outlined in this official guide: https://adobe.ly/4mnHRuo

Regarding your question — "If someone outside my university shares files with my email address, can I choose which account (Business or Personal) will receive them?" — here's how it works:

When your Adobe ID is associated with both a Business and a Personal profile (under the same email address), Adobe will prompt you to choose a profile each time you sign in. If someone shares files from outside with your email address, the shared content will be delivered to whichever profile you choose when accessing the link or logging in to Creative Cloud.

So yes, you can choose which profile to access the shared files with, as long as the selected profile has the necessary permissions or licenses to open the content.

Since your Business Profile will soon be deactivated, we recommend:

Logging into your Personal Profile when opening shared links.

Informing collaborators to resend shared files if needed after you've switched to your Personal Profile.

For clarity on switching profiles and managing assets, you can refer to this guide:https://adobe.ly/4k11jLR

Let us know if you'd like step-by-step assistance on switching profiles or transferring content.

Regards,
^AN
