Acrobat DC keeps asking for license

Hi,

I recently deployed Acrobat DC for all users. But a whole bunch of people (not everyone!) is getting popups to "activate the software".

Which is weird, because on the test environment it worked perfectly.

I installed it with the Customization Wizard, creating the offline exception. Then ran the adobe_prtk.exe to create a prov.xml. That generated a file, and gave return code 0, meaning it went OK.

Then I ran the adobe_prtk.exe to stream that prov.xml, also gave me return code 0.

Yet still people are getting this message. Ive edited the GPO to run the stream option on server boot as well, still to no avail.

So I went through the oobelib.lig and found all kind of errors in it. Most importantly (I think) a " could not read prov.xml".

So, 1,5 years later and we still have the same issue.

Had contact with the helpdesk multiple times, tried different Acrobat versions, different APTEE versions.

Were now on a newer Citrix version as well, still the same problem.

After some more research it seems it has to do with Appsense/Ivanti Personalization. Still seems odd to me, because its an enterprise license, so why would some user action block licensing?

Ive added the amt3.log of a user who was working jsut fine in the morning, and in the afternoon started getting errors.

(I edited out payload and licensenumbers)

With your later log, which is actually a different licensing log, there are also errors in your amt3.log:

I would recommend that you contact Adobe Support with the following logs from your User Temp folder:

oobelib.log

amt3.log

PDApp.log

swtag.log

adobegc.log

I was asked by Adobe support to send them the oobelib, amt3 and PDApp files, which I did multiple times.

The logfiles are different, because of different adobe_prtk and Acrobat versions.

I sent these again 2 weeks ago, no reply yet.

The strange thing is it is working one moment, and at a random time the same user starts getting the errors. Even though he has not logged out, and is still in the same desktop session. Why would it suddenly fail to find the prov.xml then? Las time he actually had 2 PDF files open, but the next one failed with the licensing errors.

I just do not understand how that is even possible.

There might be a couple of things that I can think of but there isn't enough data in the forum post.

Are you using a visualization solution (Citrix, VMWare, AppV, etc...)? In the earlier posts it says that there were two different versions of Citrix. Which solution (XenApp, XenDesk, etc...)?
If yes, then are you using an imaged OS? This would mean using the Adobe Customization Wizard DC's Online Exception feature would/could not be used.
If yes, then did you follow the imaged OS instructions for licensing in the ETK?

These are all questions you were probably already asked? (ret.)

Those have indeed been asked by support, multiple times.

1) Yes, we use Citrix Xenapp 7.13 at the moment.

2) Yes, thats why I generated the prov.xml, and activated the streaming option.

3) Yes, but I see now theres a licensing check added after the last step:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Licensing\UserSpecificLicensing]"Enabled"="1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Identity\UserSpecificIdentity]"Enabled"="1"

These keys are not present on the master image, so I am going to set those.

Those key names are kind of confusing tho, because we dont use "UserSpecificIdentity" or "UserSpecificLicensing". We have an enterprise license.

But oh well, I will add them and see what if it will fix our problems.

Well i finally got to doing this and went to the site.

Except those 2 lines has been removed again, so theres still no change for me, and still stuck with the same problems.

After 3 years of this not being fixed and numerous "promises" of it being fixed in coming releases and our contract with Adobe ending, we decided to swap to a different PDF program that does not have these kind of maddening licensing structures.

Theres mulptiple executables that CAN do a license check to MULTIPLE Adobe websites, but in no way could support make clear WHICH ones connect WHERE at WHAT time. So yeh, no more Acrobat for us.
