Adobe Reader DC over took Adobe Acrobat .pdf association on machines with acrobat 10.x on them.  is there a script that I can deploy to re-associate the .pdf with Acrobat?

No script. File handling has hooks everywhere.

Here's the doc: Setting the Default PDF Viewer — Enterprise Administration Guide

Method depends on what is installed in what order and on what platform.
