I've got IIS running on MSServer 2019, updates folder is d:\updates
It will complete a fresh or incremental sync no problem, but it will NOT generate the client config at all unless I give the full parameter set to the CLI, just the selecting option 3 and manually typing in the info always gives me an invalid protocol specified error.
If I do this it works, BUT it's only generating an overrides file that includes Acrobat.
AdobeUpdateServerSetupTool.exe --genclientconf="d:\updates" --root="d:\updates" --url="http://server.domain.com "
I did just run an incremental sync with --LegacyUpdates and now it's syncing 620 things instead of 320 or whatever it did before. The documentation on this is shockingly bad, any help would be appreciated.
I am using this video:

and this document:

Unfortunately, the option to choose Acrobat as a product, both in product group filtering in AUSST as well as for Remote Update Manager "productVersions" , is not available. If you go through the list of the products for both, they're both the same: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/package/help/apps-deployed-without-their-base-versions.html
This is because of Acrobat using a different installation technology than the rest of the apps in the CC family.

Hi There,
While the tool says it has finished generating the overrides file for Acrobat, it has actually generated the complete overrides file. I agree that the confirmation message on the command prompt is confusing and our product engineering has already been made aware of this based on feedback from a few other customers too and this messaging would be changed in one of the new releases of AUSST in the near future.
Rest assured, you can go ahead and start testing this overrides file on a few of your client machines to see if this is working as this is the complete overrides file.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response, I will test. However, this overrides file APPEARS to only contain entries for reader and acrobat, doesn't it?

This looks about right. Acrobat uses an installation technique that is a little different from the rest of the CC apps which is why you see multiple entries of this on the overrides file. The first few lines in the overrides file are sufficient for catering to the rest of the CC apps.

Ok. Cool.
Testing now and I've got a machine seeing updates but it doesn't want to download them, I guess I send it to the network team to figure out what the traffic is doing. Regards.

Hopefully last question, I figured the rest out and it's working as intended.
I can't use ausst/rum to deploy Acrobat/Reader updates as we have to apply a bunch of transforms in our existing deployment process.
It LOOKS like the way to prevent client machines from grabbing acrobat/reader is with this product groups option, where I would define a group that includes all BUT acrobat products? This will prevent the update server from ever updating the acrobat/reader files present already? Alternatively I can put all the other codes into the RUM command but might as well save the bandwidth on the server.
Am I missing something obvious here?

You can disable the Acrobat updates completely so you can use the registry settings described in the below help article: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/FeatureLockdown.html
In short, there's currently no way to prevent Acrobat updates from syncing to the AUSST server but you can sure block the updates on the client machines that have Acrobat installed on them.
Hope this helps.
