Hi pattiparrish,

ESD stands for Electronic Software Distribution. Acrobat XI provided thought compact disk which included installation CD, on the other hand it was also provided through ESD, which included the direct download link for Acrobat XI Download Adobe Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X.

There is no difference in the application, difference is just that how it is provided to the customer.
