We have been offering our College students the free temporary access to Adobe products that has been organised by Adobe but have had several queries raised with our own IT department around Lightroom.
Our Students can successfully log in and download the applications that are available but after installing Lightroom in particular they are prompted to log in again with a message that 'Access Denied' You do not have access to this service.
This seems to be the only application students are having an issue with. After searching around I have found this
Your temporary license enables access to recent versions of Adobe Creative Cloud desktop apps such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and more. By default, you can download the latest version of the apps, however you may install a previous version as well.
These licenses do not include mobile apps, Creative Cloud Libraries, Creative Cloud Assets, Lightroom Photos, or shared files and workflows. Any assets and files created in the cloud are still available to you, but you won’t be able to import or save files to Creative Cloud. You can save them to your local computer instead.
Cloud-first apps such as Lightroom CC, Lightroom mobile, or Adobe Fresco may not work as expected, if you do not have Creative Cloud storage. Instead of Lightroom CC you can use Lightroom Classic.
Is this the reason our students cannot use Lightroom, because they have no online storage available as part of this offer?
If that is the case why does it appear in their list of available resources to download. Sorry for the question but it is causing some confusion and support queries are being raised with us.
Cheers
Yes, Phil, you are right, since Lightroom CC is a Cloud-first app it requires storage and access to a specific service which is why it won't work.
However, your students can download and use Lightroom Classic CC without any issues.
Lightroom CC is available only as an option for the students to try if they have Adobe IDs, also, it is currently not possible to only show the entitled apps to the users, the Creative Cloud desktop app is designed in a way to display all the apps included in the
