Lately in the corner of my google chrome ive been seeing this puzzle piece sayin that adobe flash player is blocked(although i can still see videos) and on the chrome://plugins site where the adobe flash player is there is no enable or disable button that i can click and the box next to where it says to always allow the player to work is checked. On the flash player settings manager it is saying:
NPAPI Plug-in Version: not installed
PPAPI plug-in Version: 24.0.0.221
my question is how do i install the one that says its not installed? the NPAPI plug-in Version.

Hi,
Go to Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions
select the operating system form the drop down list.
Next you may select the "version" i.e NPAPI from the next drop down list.
Download and install.
Thanks!

Hi Tanya31 ,
The NPAPI plugin is for Firefox and other NPAPI plugin based browsers (e.g. Safari) If you do not use Firefox or Safari there is no reason to install the NPAPI plugin as it will do nothing for you.
What version of Google Chrome do you have? What operating system, including version, is this on?

I go to the help part of google chrome to see the version and it says that its up to date.
It says: Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit)
I am also using windows 10.
I just dont understand why that puzzle piece is comin up in the corner of the address bar but the videos and stuff still do work and when I go to the adobe player site it says that its been disabled but when i go to the chrome://plugins page where the player is located there is no "enable" or "disable" button at all and the box where it says to always allow it to run is check marked.

Looks like we need to update the screenshots on the Enable Flash Player for Google Chrome page since Google removed the 'enable/disable' text from that page. It now only has the 'Always allowed to run' checkbox:
Please try the following:
Alternatively, at step 3, you can manage Flash content per domain/site:
If you're not using FIrefox, or any other NPAPI-based browser there is no need to install the NPAPI plugin as it won't be used at all.

Is this (the puzzle piece) only happening on the adobe.com page? Can you post a screenshot? I tested it on Windows 10 with Chrome (same version as you) and the plugin is being correctly detected on https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html page. Can you post links to content that is working fine and to content that is displaying the puzzle piece (in the address field)?
Another option you can try is to reset Chrome (Reset Chrome settings to default - Chrome Help) or do a complete uninstall and re-install of Chrome.

i dont know how to do a screenshot and i went to that first link in your post and it says when i clicked the check now button a green check mark and says Flash Player is pre-installed in Google Chrome and updates automatically! You can skip the steps below. See Flash Player with Google Chrome. Videos and games(ie: pogo) stil work but while im playin the game that puzzle piece will show up in the corner of the address bar randomly.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. This has to do with how Google is managing/implemeting Flash Player in their move to display HTML5 by default. Clicking on the puzzle piece will display the following window giving you the option to run the plugin
Clicking on the 'i' to the left of the address bar will display various settings, including enabling Flash Player. The default is to ask the user to use the Flash Player plugin. You can modify the settings here, click on the 'x' in the upper-right of the window and then refresh the browser tab to display Flash content.
You can enable Flash Player by default (in chrome://settings/content > Flash > Allow sites to run Flash) or manage it on a per-site basis. It's a bit more nuanced than this and the link I posted above goes into more detail.

Hi,
Essentially, this is new Chrome behaviour. Google is moving to a click-to-play model and it is their algorithm that determines the content that will play by default, or if the user has to explicitly enable it. The information I've provided to attempt to resolve the issue is based on the information I've been provided. If you continue to experience issues with it I recommend you contact Google for assistance, as ultimately, it is their software that is managing the displaying of Flash Player.
