It started to happened a few weeks ago, apparently because of an automatic update. Now each time I enter to sites with flash as youtube, it ask me to install the latest version. I go to adobe site and install it. Then go back to youtube and I can use it without problems. However, once I turn off and turn on again the laptop, it ask me the same. I go to control panel, and flash player is there with the latest version.

I do have java and ie7 with Vista SP1

Hello - you are not alone and it is driving me crazy as well! Everytime I go to to a site, it pops up and says i need to install the latest version. I have even gone in an turned off "check for updates" and it still keeps doing it.

It is doing it in both IE and Firefox. I have tried completely removing Flash and then reinstalling it but it still keeps popping up a new window everytime i go to a page with Flash on it.

when I go to the Adobe Flash Manager, it says i have version 10.0.12.36 installed, which is the latest.

I hope someone figures this out FAST!!

Someone said uninstall, go to windows/system32/Macromedia/Flash/ and click execute as administrator de flash utility. It installs you the flash player, and it works at the moment, but after restart I had the same problem.

I think that adobe needs to launch a new version urgently. This is happening to a lot people and the problem start due to an automatic update.

I am getting the same thing! I have not had FlashPlayer installed on this machine before, and it will not install. I have checked the size of the installer download and it is correct (1.8 MB) but when I run it there is no instance of FlashPlayer on my system. When I watch the progress of the install it looks as though it is only loading the uninstaller and not the program itself. And, of course, since it is a free download there is no direct support available. Does anyone have access to an IT person who can look at this and give us some input as to what is wrong with the installer?

I'm having the exact problem. When I went to link to something, the box came up saying I needed the latest version of flash player. I downloaded it, and it completed in less than a minute, with no evidence of it in my applications folder. Called Adobe and they were no help. Sent me here. Guess they should read their own forums.

Anybody ever figure this out. I saw a post to install a utility flashutil10b and run it, which fixes the problem without having to uninstall and reinstall. BUT IT COMES RIGHT BACK. It has been going on for months. Anyone have a permanent solution?
