Cannot install Flash Player because there is another installation in progress

Community Beginner ,
Nov 23, 2016 Nov 23, 2016

Hi,

Every time I try to install Flash Player, appears a message telling that I have another installation in process, so the current installation will shut down.

The fact is that I don't have another installation.

Sometimes, the Flash Update Utility of Carmine S. did the work, but now, neither the app, nor the script, managed to finish the installation.

I use Cyberfox 50.0 and Palemoon 26.5.0, both 64 bits versions and both fully compatible with Firefox (these are mods, in facts). Anyway, I use to try the installation whit all the browsers closed. I'm using Win 10 build 1607 64 Bits and these are the two last attempts, in the flashinstall.log file:

I would like to know if there is a register branch that i can delete or if there is an effective way to install flash player manually.

Thank you for your attention and best regards.

Hi,

The log files provided do not show any error.  Please do the following:

  1. Launch Task Manager
  2. Click the 'More Details' button in the bottom left of the Task Manager window
  3. Launch Flash Player and proceed with installation.
  4. When the installer stops with the "Cannot install Flash Player because there is another installation in progress." message go to Task Manager and look for anything that has Flash in the title in the Processes and Users tabs.
  5. If you are using the online installer (downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer), upload the Adobe_ADM.log and Adobe_GDE.log files (saved atC:\Users\<YourUserID>\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe_ADMLogs) to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document .
  6. Post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Thank you.

Hi, Maria:

As you instruct, I started the installation from flashplayer23_xa_install.exe, picked up the log files from Adobe_ADMLogs and upload them to cloud.adobe, along with screencaptures of the error message and the two tabs from Task Manager.

The link that gave me Adobe is Shared Files - Acrobat.com.

I look forward to your answer.

Thank you and best regards

Hi,

Thank you for providing the screenshots and log files.  I will forward them to the onilne installer team for review.  Just to confirm, you are only launching the installer once (only one installer dialog window), right?

In the interim, please use the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier  page in the 'Still having problems' section.

Hi, Maria:

Indeed I launched the installer only once. And the same occurs with the offline installer. I tried it before I post the issue in this forum.

Best regards

Hi Ridagold ,

Please do the following using the offline installer:

  1. Launch Task Manager
  2. Click the 'More Details' button in the bottom left of the Task Manager window
  3. Launch Flash Player offline installer and proceed with installation.
  4. When the installer stops with the "Cannot install Flash Player because there is another installation in progress." message go to Task Manager and look for anything that has Flash in the title in the Processes and Users tabs.
  5. Take a screenshot(s) of the Task Manager window showing the Flash Player installer item and save the screenshots (e.g. Processes.jpg, Users.jpg)
  6. Close out of the installer dialog window
  7. Upload the FlashInstall.log files saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash AND C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document.  Note that both of these files are required from a 64-bit OS.
  8. Post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Thank you

Hi,

We are reviewing the log files.

Sorry, while I can read some Spanish, I don't write in Spanish.  I would need to use some online translation service to translate from English to Spanish and those don't always translate accurately.
