I have downloaded
adobe flash player but when i try to play a Word Whom Underground tells me that I have adove Flash player 8, then it give me error0x004638CA. I have uninstalled the player and reloaded but still keep getting this error. I am using internext explorer 8. What could be the problem?
Hi, well that is good news. Had we not removed those gp.ocx files you probably would not have been successful.
Computer problems are not always as they first appear, so it takes a little digging to find what the cause is:-)
Since your thread has been answered I would appreciate if you would mark it as such.
Thanks,
eidnolb
P.S. good luck with the software company, most won't admit that users problems have anything to do with them LOL

Hi, I would put that in a search engine, you should be able to find some info on it.
Hope that helps. I don't know where the error is coming from. Perhaps the website has a problem.
Thanks,

Well try searching in www.bing.com there is one entry for that error and the website forum that is linked to has had that error back in 2009. No one responds, so I am thinking your website has a problem, not Flash Player.
I would contact your website and ask them about it.

I contacted the software company and they had me do some test
and their part is fine. When I go to contol panel to add and remove programs. It show
that Adobe flash player is there but there is not megabytes that was downloaded. So for some reason
your website is not downloading the actual program or installing it.

Hi, with all due respect, there is nothing wrong with the Adobe Uninstaller or the Installer. I have no idea what OS/browser you are using, so until I have that info I would be guessing what the problem is.
I, along with millions of other users have Flash Player downloaded and working just fine.
In addition to providing your computer info, just what is listed in Add/Remove regarding Flash Player?
While you are in Add/Remove you might as well list all Java entries as well, along with the version numbers.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi, So you have XP/SP3 with IE8. The links you gave I cannot use since they would download to my system and I don't need any of them.
However, the one that you say is damaged is a problem. Not only because it is damaged, but it should not be there.
Just to clear up question about FP in Add/Remove not listing any size. As far as I know it is never listed. It doesn't mean anything anyway, many programs don't list the size.
Go back to Add/Remove and find if there is a listing for Adobe DLM(download manager) and also look further down for
a listing GetPlus.
Post back that info.

Hi, ok. That is good that neither one is listed, but they were used and are still on your system.
Do a Search, enter getplus in the file name line and search. Right click and delete/remove any files that have getplus
in the title.
Thanks,

Hi, have you checked if the file is still listed as damaged? If it is then you would need to do a clean Uninstall/Install.
Check that first. I don't know what caused it to be listed as damaged, but if it still is then an Un/In needs to be done.
Give me a few minutes to give you the instructions so you will be successful in that.
In the meantime, make sure you know how to disable any third party Firewall and ALL Anti-Virus/Spyware components.
Windows Firewall doesn't need to be disabled. However, many Anti-Virus programs disable it anyway.

Hi, Please go to this thread where I have already posted info for another user:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2606181#2606181
Now you will see that these are instructions for Firefox which he wanted. The instructions are the same EXCEPT since you are using IE, see the message to him about installing IE. THAT is the link you would use and put on your Desktop.
The Uninstaller link ...14157.. is the same for ALL FP and will Uninstall FP from all browsers.
After you are finished then you would check your Flash files in the Flash folder and you would check in IE for the Shockwave Flash Object.. Flash10e.ocx to be sure it is installed and Enabled.
Then you can do the test site at Adobe.
One special item and that is take a look at the bottom of the Uninstall article and pay special attention to that last NOTE.
It should say if you see any old files that have not been removed, you run the UNINSTALLER again before proceeding with the Install.
Please post back if you have any questions, before you start this.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Thank you , I appreciate that you do and marked your thread as answered. Many don't take the time, so when someone does it is noted and remembered if they ever need help again. The others that don't are remembered as well:-)
