All our flash pieces no longer show and the browser says you need to update to 10.2. None of our content uses features of 10.2 so why is it now saying 10.2 is required? Is there anything that can be done about this?
Thanks for sending the link! I took a look at the page and I suspect the problem is the following line:
swfobject.embedSWF('http://qtopia.com/SiteContent/Landing/landing.swf', "flashContainer", 600, 200, "10.1.0", '/Content/expressInstall.swf', flashVars, paramVars); //); //, params);
Try changing the version parameter from "10.1.0" to "10.0.0" and see if that helps.

Hi, You don't have to update to the 10.2 version if you don't want to. If a website is not supporting the version you have, well then they don't have to either. Contact the website and ask them if they are supporting whatever version you have on your system.
That's the best thing to do.

The problem is with our own website. We have Flash content we rendered in Flash 10.0. Since Flash 10.2 came out, if you go to our website none of the Flash content shows up. It tells you you have to update to Flash 10.2 in order for the Flash content to show. We haven't used any feature of 10.2 or rendered anything since 10.2 came out. Why would it now require 10.2?
We create content for school districts. Now that this happened an Administrator will have to go to every computer in every school in every district and update the Flash player. Until they do this no Teachers or students can use our content. This is very bad for us. Is there anything we can do to prevent it requiring Flash 10.2?

Hi, well that is different. If this is your website, don't you have control over it? What Adobe Product did you use to create the content/website? I would start a thread on that Forum, since I think you'd find better help.
Many websites update them when Flash Player is updated. Others will still support the older versions also, it all depends on the website, not Flash Player.
The Flash Player forum pertains mostly to the end user, not websites, content or any of those other Adobe Products.
That would be my suggestion.
Hope you find the solution.
Thanks,

Hello,
When did this start happening? Did you attempt an update at one point and it stopped working then or are your machines still running a version of Flash pre 10.2? Any chance these pages are public facing, and if so could you post a URL for us to check out? Finally, what OS/Browser combination are you running?
Thanks,
Chris

Greetings Chris. I really appreciate you responding to this issue. We were contacted by our customers about two days after the release of Flash 10.2. We initially told them that Flash 10.0 was required to run our content and then we got emails saying it was suddenly requiring them to download Flash 10.2. We didn't notice the problem here at first because we usually update right away. Our clients however don't have that option. You can go to our website at www.qtopia.com to see the issue. We have a Flash banner on that page consisting of cartoon characters which suddenly won't load and says you need Flash 10.2. That used to run just fine in Flash 10.0 and we haven't changed it since 10.2 was released. As far as OS/Browsers go, it runs the entire gamut. If you need any further information just let me know.
