I realized that you mentioned your problem started since last September, right? 10.2 released on Februrary 2011 so your problem doesn't matter which version of Flash Player, 10.1.82, 10.1.85, 10.1.102, or 10.2?

Hi.
After three months, I’m totally loosing my faith in the possibility to solve our problem (with FP versions higher then 10.1, BSOD screen with ATI error – see here N.24, Mar 8).
I contacted Acer (I have an Acer Travelmate 6592G with Windows XP Pro SP3 32 bit) and they told me that there are not updates for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT driver (the version I use is 8.403.00 as indicated in Acer site); moreover they told me that is an Adobe problem.
Adobe advised me to update the drivers … but .. which update ?? and I really don’t know what to do.
I’m going on with 10.1 version but I think you agree with me that this is not a solution.
Hitomi Kudo, Chris.Campbell, any good news for us?
I’d really like to solve this boring and annoying problem without wasting other time in testing “random” useless solutions.
Please, can anybody advice me about what to do ?
P.S. – I can’t and don’t want to change my PC for a Flash Player problem !!!

Unfortunately troubleshooting issues like this can be trial and error. You mentioned you tried disabling hardware acceleration via the windows control panel, did you try disabling via Flash's settings dialog (see step 1)? If you attach a dxdiag report and an example URL I'll forward this along to our video folks for their review.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris and thank you for your reply.
Yesterday I contacted again Acer; they confirmed me (once more) that there are no updates for my VGA driver, but they too advised me to disable hardware acceleration not via windows control panel, but directly via FP, using an old version of FP.
So this morning I disabled hardware acceleration via FP (version 10.1) and then I updated to 10.3.181.14 version... and, so far, everything seems to work fine !
So the situation is much better than yesterday! I've been able to updated FP to the latest version even if I can't exploit the benefits of hardware acceleration.
Anyway I tried to sign in system dashboard to send you the DxDiag.txt file, but without success (I can't entry with my username and password, I don't know why. I also tried to register with another username, but no success).
If you like I can send the DxDiag.txt file where you want.
Thank you very much Chris.

Ok, thanks for the additional investigation and update! Would you mind opening a new report through our Adobe Flash Player Bug Management System. Please review the instructions on this page for details on generating the information we’ll need for further investigation (there might be a couple of additional things we need besides the dxdiag, nothing huge though). In addition, I'd also recommend putting a link to this thread in the bug report.
I suspect we'll have to work with Acer to get updated drivers in place, but I'm glad to hear disabling acceleration worked for now.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris.
I've just create the report through Adobe Flash Player Bug Management System with the link to this thread.
...["You have successfully created the issue (FP-6989), however you do not have the permission to view the created issue. This is probably because you entered a bug report that details a potential security vulnerability - or is related to a non-public component in a commercial product."]...
I hope the report is clear and useful.
Thank you very much Chris for your assistance.

Neversaynever2,
It sounds like you are having an ATI driver issue. Could you try either of the suggestions on this page?
Thanks,
Chris

I'd also like to recommend grabbing your driver's directly from ATI since the OEM (Acer, Dell, etc) can lag behind in releases.

Hi Chris and thank you very much for your interest.
Yes, I already tried to get the “write option” to off, when I tried to put the hardware acceleration to “min”. But no success.
As far as the update of ATI Graphic’s drivers is concerned, I can’t grab them from AMD (ATI) site because they ask me to visit Acer support site !
So, I wait and see …

I am sorry to hear that your problem yet to be solved.
Do you recall when was the last time that your computer played youtube properly? Did you do any update on flash player or video driver before the issue happened?
Have you tried to install the latest video driver?

Have you tried uninstalling Flash and Shockwave, rebooting, then reinstalling them? I see there is a new version out of Flash... and sometimes an older version works.
Are you using Flash 6, 7, or 8?
As I recall, some of these problems are created when you install Flash with other software running.
If you use Firefox or Netscape, download and install the version that works with Firefox while in Firefox, then reboot. Got to Internet Explorer to download and install Flash 8 for Internet Explorer. Reboot.
