Flash.ocx missing, tried everything.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium and trying to install a game that requires flash.ocx.  I am getting an error saying "this program requires flash.ocx, which is no longer included in this version of Windows".  I have tried the uninstall/reinstall instructions many times with no success.  The only files I have in my C:/windows/system32/macromed/flash folder is:

FlashInstall.txt

Flashplayer.xpt

FlashUtil10I_Plugin

NPSWF32.dll

This is after several reinstalls.  How do I fix this problem?

Thanks!

Hi, you need to Install Flash Player in the IE Browser. Go here and download and SAVE the EXE Installer to your Desktop:

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

Close all browser windows, disable any messenger services in the system tray(area near the clock) Disable your Anti-Virus if it is Norton or McAfee. Disable any Anti-Virus addons in the IE browser if any until after FP is Installed successfully.

When finished Installing, Reboot(restart) your computer.

Be sure to use

Be sure to use the Administrator Account.

Test here with your IE browser:

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

You should see the Flash logo animate(spin) and the version of FP will also be displayed.

Be sure to look in Tools, Manage addons under "Show" in all addons for Shockwave Flash Object, which must be listed, Enabled.

Thanks,

Hi, I thot that may have been the issue. Glad it was that easy

Thanks for marking your thread as answered also. I like your subject you picked also, as I've seen this error before, but not in the title so much. Hope it helps those with a similar problem.
