Flash Player 11.2.202.228 - still get this green screen on videos

Community Beginner ,
Mar 29, 2012 Mar 29, 2012

Windows 7

Google Chrome (latest) or IE9 or FireFox 9.0.1

Hi,

I had the same issue with beta versions, thought it would be fixed with the official release. Many videos show a green screen. I know I can disable hardware acceleration, but it's still a problem. I don't want to be mean but how come such a huge bug (as Flash is still a prefered tech for showing videos) is still there in the official FP11.2 release, when the bug has been known for such a long time?

For example I get that behaviour with that video (sorry if it's not funny, I just stumbled on it):

thanks

Again, make sure you are turning OFF hardware acceleration in the right lick settings tab > display

This used to happen to me on 10.2 - are you updating drivers via the internal update dialogue box or via the supplier web site - Microsoft does NOT update to the latest drivers.

on ALL firefox, opera and chrome, so it is not a problem with any of the browsers or any of the sites, it is a problem with flash.

please fix this. it is only since this morning and the lousy update to the last flash player version. this is disappointing.

I have this problem, too.

I am using IE9 with win 7 64.  Some flash videos will not play.  Funny, the commercial that comes first plays, but then IE stops, closes, restarts and the same thing over again.  And, when I do get to play a video, I get the green stripe across the top.  This is happening on espn and other websites.

Sad to say, I uninstalled the 11.2 and install the most recent version of 11.1, but the flash videos on espn won't play with the 11.1.  They want me to update to 11.2, the version that won't work with my nvidia optimus 1000 graphics card in my laptop.

I'm at a loss what to do, since the 11.1 version isn't accepted by the website.

I wish Adobe would fix this.  Adobe, are you listening?

Oh, and btw . . . before an adobe rep suggests that I update the nvidia driver . . . I already have the latest driver installed.

I think the fix needs to come from adobe.

Updated back to the most recent 11.2, turned off hardware accerlation, and videos play.  I can see them in full screen mode, but they are not as clear.  Still think this bug should be fixed.

Sorry I was out today, trying to catch up with posts now.  What we need to have one of you guys do is open up a new bug report at bugbase.adobe.com.  Please include the following:

OS version

Browser version

Flash Player version

DXDiag report

Exact URL where you experience this bug

Any additional steps or findings that you think are applicable

Once added, please post back here with the bug URL so that others can go and cast their vote and add comments.  I'll also forward this to the video team for their immediate review.

Thanks,

Chris

Really wish you knuckle heads at adobe would stop patronizing us... you know damn well whats wrong here.  You know someone screwed up the lastest release royally... who's the new guy?  Stop playing games with us trying to make us believe we have input and you care so damn much and FIX IT!!  You should all be embarrassed.  Just FIX IT!!  You are the experts... if you were a cab company this would be the equivalent of all of your cabs being out of gas and you telling us you understand and we should file a complaint but you need the following info:

Cab driver name

Cab number

Date of cab ride

Time of cab ride

Destination address

Color of Cab

Number of people who needed a ride

etc...

Just stop... your programmers know what the damn oops was by now... FIX IT!  Fools... just fix it.

You do realize that Flash is up to version 11.3.300.257 at the time of this writing, and most likely has these probelms fixed. If they are not fixed, I suggest you start a new thread. I have not had this problem in a long time now. Further, I don't see how getting irate and demanding they FIX FIX FIX it is going to help. You need to read, update, contribute. You're just a grumpy old goat and prefer to bitch instead.

And you are a fool who doesn't know your rights as a consumer.  If this were fixed I wouldn't respond here.  I am well aware of the current version and well aware that the issue remains.  Soooo happy to hear you are the anomaly but you taking my discontent with a product that is not your own personally and resulting to name calling shows exactly what you are and what you are made of without my having to do the same.  Allow others to have their opinions.  I don't know you and don't care to so my message had nothing to do with you.  Grow up.

You started with the name-calling and finger pointing (knuckleheads, fools)... but I digress. You're right. That was rude of me to respond in that tone. Let me rephrase and re-establish myself from a better perspective.

Firstly, I do know and understand my rights as a consumer. Flash Player however, is a free product. We didn't pay to have it. If you use Adobe Authoring tools such as Flash Pro, I can understand your frustration. However, whether you use a free version or it came with your paid product, we all drink from the same trough.

Moreover, I don't understand your hesitation in providing information about your system and submitting a bug report. Do you realize that to troubleshoot this problem, Adobe would need information based on your input? Unless you are simpleton and assume everyone has all the same computer parts? Besides, your very clever simile regarding the cabs is inherently flawed. Flash has no 'gas' so to speak. It does however, have an 'engine' (hardware) that it runs on. Continuing this analogy, you would still need to know the cab information to 'put gas in the vehicle' or to 'fix the engine'... as it is highly unlikely that all cabs would be broken down at the same time.

I do stand behind my statement recommending that you start a new thread. This thread was specifically for Flash Player version 11.2.202.228. The thread title is quite specific, yet you jump into this month’s old thread and complain about how they screwed up the latest release. The new guy is you.

If you cared to read the bugbase we built on this issue (https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3158029) you would have seen that they did in fact fix this issue and put it into the subsequent releases.

I went through this whole thread numerous times. There are numerous suggestions and answers, which in the end fixed my issue permanently (and a fix made it into a release). I am not an anomaly, I just happened to read, listen, and try to provide feedback.  This worked, as you seem to be the only one at the moment who seems to still have this issue. Yet refuse to do anything that would allow Adobe or others in assisting you.

So thank you, for showing us what you are made of... and allowing me to show you what I'm made of.

Who's the fool who needs to grow up?

Sorry I just can't even bother to read all of the ramblings of a fool.  So, I will respond to what I stopped at... If you think being a consumer is only a matter of what you PAY for then you're younger and more ignorant than I thought.  You have no clue of economics and marketing... so I will copy and paste for you one definition from the web in hopes that it will help you evolve.  "A consumer is a person or group of people that are the final users of products and or services generated within a social system" - wiki

Now... by all means feel free to grow up fast and as I stated earlier, my comment had nothing to do with you.  Unless you own stock in adobe I suggest you not take this so seriously.  I'm sure (please tell me I'm right about this) that you have better things to do than challenge an old grumpy goat about a free adobe product.  LOL

I will not respond again.  If you're one of those "gotta have the last word" types feel free and make it a good one.  I am unsubscribing from this ridiculous thread, will not reply here again and will wait for those responsible for this blunder to get their heads out of their a$$es and fix the damn thing while children like you accept it and enjoy spending your time and energy on allowing them to patronize you with BS.  Wake up youngin... you're sounding more and more foolish with each post.  Again I say... GROW UP.

Good afternoon, good evening and good night... (truman show LOL)

I have submitted a bug report on this at http://https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=newBug   It is Bug #3158029 .  If you are still getting the green band across the videos, or if your flash videos didn't even want to play, you can report your experiences with this bug there.  My experience is that, with hardware acceleration turned on, all my flash videos have the green band.  And, before I disabled hardware acceleration, I was having trouble even getting them to play at all.

Vote for it, leave comments, etc. If we want a prompt fix, we need to show it's a big enough issue. Thanks.

JDelphiki,

Can you add a comment to your bug report with a specific URL that you see this green band on and your browser information?

Thanks,

Chris

I didn't start the bug report, I just added to it. Sadly, I cannot give specifics.. as the driver update fixed it. I'm sticking around to see how/when it gets fixed more out of curiousity and to provide my experience. The video I was trying to see was on YouTube, but I cannot provide any link. I will however give my browser info.

Sorry, my bad.  I see that mtbusman did post that this occurs with IE 9.

So, other than mtbusman and zx3cv1, who else on this thread was unable to fix this by updating their driver?

For me updating drivers doesn't work and I have posted the bug number up there. Besides video, I gave a way to 100% reproduce bug (for me at least) in a flash game with hw acceleration turned on.

Similar problems here with Firefox (green band) and IE (crash) with what it seems any flash video (ie http://vimeo.com/37254322).

Both Firefox and IE use to work fine until few weeks ago.

Disabling Hardware Acceleration fixed the problems.

Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on Dell laptop with NVIDIA Quadro 2000 M graphic.

Latest versions of Firefox and IE.
