Flash Player 11.4.402.265 causes IE to crash

Flash Player 11.4.402.265 is causing Internet Explorer to crash on several of our company computers whenever they try to access Flash content. Rolling back to Flash Player 11.3.300.271 (which requires using the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller first) resolves the issue. The problem seems limited to Windows 7 (64-bit) systems, but not all of them. Still trying to determine to commonality.

The filename you should be downloading and installing is fp 11.3.300.271archive.zip and only after you have followed the uninstall procedures listed on the link I just posted

Agreed AliBaba010, but there is probably a problem with the oldapps site, because the link says 11.3.300.271 while the file it downloads says 11.4.408.278.

Anyway, I have solved through the adobe Flash Player archive page. Thanks anyway for your support.

The correct version is few links down there is double listing for 11.3.302.271. Also you need to use -force flag to get it installed.

Anyways, I chose to remove Flash completly from all systems, now IE is no longer crashing.

I installed version 11.3.300.271. After I rebooted my computer, I got a message saying "An update to Adobe Flash Player is available". How can I find out which version the updater wants to install?

Thanks,

Shane.

c_Shane.

The updater will always want to install the latest version. If its the normal quick updater message then all you can do is click "remind me later" which seems to hold it off for a few days. Keep doing this untill we have a known good working update.

My daughter had a similar crashing problem and I uninstalled the new version of Flash with no good results. After a few hours of looking around I found that she had a shortcut for the 32 bit version of Explorer on her taskbar. When I ran  the 64 bit version of Explorer her problem was resolved no more crashes.

This is a definate fix and has been performed on 3 machines in total to fix the above symptoms

Performing a Clean install,

1. Uninstall Flash Player

2. Delete the system32/macromedia folder (You may need to use a progarm similar to Unlocker to remove the file )

3. Reinstall latest version,

Advertisement text doesnt appear until after the animation, and the animation works every time , also tested on youtube ect...

Hello everyone,

While this issue was addressed back in Flash Player 11.4, our approach at the time was a temporary "bandaid" fix.  We did this because the correct fix would take additional time and we wanted to stop the crashing as soon as possible.

In the latest Flash Player 11.6 beta (released yesterday on labs), we have now implemented the correct fix for this issue.  However, since we've never been able to reproduce the problem internally we'd like to request you give our new release a shot and let us know if you run into any issues.

Please feel free to leave feedback on this thread or you can email me directly at ccampbel@adobe.com.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Chris!

For what it's worth, I recall utilizing a previous fix some time ago (essentially uninstall/install Adobe) and then you gus put out a patch of some sort. Initially, I recall having the same problems, but then it seemed to disappear and I haven't had a problem for awhile. I also have the fingerprint scanner on my HP (I recall you guys suspected it had something to do with that).

In any case, all is well now so if anything is different after the 11.6 install I'll let you know

   Thanks again!

- Jeff

Thank you Jeff!  This change is scheduled to go out with Flash 11.6 and we really want to make sure we don't break anything for you guys.  Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Finally had a chance to install Betas.  I don't notice any difference with the previous 11.5 release on my Windows 7 machine.

The temporary graphics overlay in IE on the "about" page is still there, but everything else apears to work.

Still having the same issues as decribed , crashing ie , causing flash to be unuseable until reboot and then crashes after a few minutes again , also causes issues with microsoft games.

Had a break through,

Change your pagefile to custom and set it to 4092, i have noticed that flash runs normally and my chess game that normally fails and spikes to 92% cpu has been running normally,

Can anyone else verify this fixes the issue?

@MikeS_ADI - Thanks for the feedback!

@Matt - In your previous post on this thread you had mentioned that the 11.4/11.5 release had fixed the initial crash that was reported.  I just responded to your other thread.  Because your workaround appears to be memory related, I don't believe these two issues are the same.  I am interested in the memory problem though.  What's the chess game URL and does it happen at the start of a game or does it take a while to crash?  If you wouldn't mind letting me know on your other thread I'd appreciate it.
