I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash player but it keeps telling me I don't have the latest version. I have Windows 7 and have gone through every instruction here several times. NOTHING IS WORKINGT. What is the problem???????
Hi, ok glad you can see that Flash Player logo animation. Now on the spinning animated flashes, I'm not sure what you are meaning. Are these just typical Flash ads perhaps? Do you have a couple of sites you could post the URL's for? Is this any different than when you were using IE7 or IE8? Prior to the Win7 Service Pack tho.

Hi, With your IE browser go to Tools, Manage addons and under Show(light text) look for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Installed and Enabled.
When replying back, furnish what browsers and version numbers you have Installed. Also have you Installed the Win7 Service Pack 1?
Using each browser that you have Installed and test each here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Let me know if you can see the Flash Player logo animation(spinning) and what version of Flash Player is Displayed for each browser.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Under add-ons it shows Shockwave Flash Object is enabled. I am using Internet Explorer 9 and I still don't show the spinning logo when I check. Don't believe I have Win7 Service Pack 1. Is this an automatic update on my computer that should update or do I have to manually do it and why doesn't this show anywhere on troubleshooting instructions?

Thanks. The Windows 7 Service Pack 1 would be from Microsoft in their Updates, not from Adobe. A new feature was introduced with that Service Pack but it was also carried over to the IE9.
This feature is ActiveX Filtering and from all I've seen on the Forum here, it may be turned on by default.
You can set this in the following ways:
To turn on ActiveX Filtering
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on a specific website
In Internet Explorer, click the Filter button in the Address bar, and then click Turn off ActiveX Filtering.
To turn off ActiveX Filtering on all websites
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.
You can read about all of the features that are included in IE9 here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie-9/features
See if that ActiveX Filtering Setting is causing your problem.
Thanks,

I do see that I service pack 1 installed in my automatic updates, but I've been fiddling around with this ActiveX Filtering depending on the websites I am on. So is it supposed to be checked or not? Either on or off, I keep getting the message that I don't have my flash player installed.

Ok. You want the ActiveX Filtering OFF. Your choices are listed in the info I posted. Try turning it off and then test again to see if you can see that Flash Player logo animate. The Shockwave Flash Object is the the Flash Player Control and even tho it's enabled, not being able to see that logo animate means it's not working. Something is blocking it and we'll need to find out what it is.
What Anti-Virus program are you using and are there any addons in the browser from it? If so what are they?
Go to Tools, Internet Options and under the Security Tab, make sure it's set to Medium for the Internet Zone.
Do you use any popup blocker software or Flash block?

Okay, I now see the logo spinning, and it looks like it is showing my download is complete, but this brings me to another questions. If the ActiveX Filtering is off, why do I keep getting these spinning animated flashes in all the websites I visit?? It is very annoying. This is why I turned on the Active X to begin with and the download trouble just kept recycling. Does my question make sense to you?

This is from Microsoft's site about ActiveX Filtering:
ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer can help you make an informed decision about every ActiveX control you run by giving you the ability to block ActiveX controls for all sites, and then turn them on for only the sites that you trust. This can help improve your protection against risky and unreliable ActiveX controls.
From what I can tell is that if you turn it ON, then Flash Content that uses ActiveX Controls will block it from all websites that you visit. When you go to a website for example that you want to see the Flash Content or video, then you can turn it OFF for that website.
To turn on ActiveX Filtering
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Safety, and then click ActiveX Filtering.

i don't have Win7 nor IE9 so I can't test this out and am just going by the info that IE9 has from Windows.

Yes, I guess these are called flash ads. Which is why I have turned the ActiveX off and on. I think I understand the instructions, and accordng to your instructions this means I have to keep turning ActiveX off and on for specific websites then. I was trying to watch a utube video when all this trouble started. But I think I understand how this is working now. Not quite sure what I did that made flash player work, but Ithink (hope) you have helped me correct this problem. Thanks so much for your help and if I have future problems I will post here!

Hi, It is confusing. I would think that if you turned it ON, which means Flash content would be blocked. Then when you visited a website that you wanted to see Flash content or a video, you turn it OFF. Wouldn't Windows remember and keep that as a trusted site? So the next time you went there you wouldn't need to do that again? Test it out and see if that's the way it works.
I just came back from Microsoft's info. Here is some more info and page down to "Make exceptions for Trusted Websites"
Maybe this is what we're looking for. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-to-use-Tracking-Protection-and-ActiveX-Filtering
When I get a new machine, at least I'll be familiar with how this all works, LOL I'm still with XP:-)
