Flash Player Security Error #2148

Guest

I have Flash Player version 18.0.0.232 on Windows 8.1. This pop-up stops all programs. I have tried, but cannot get rid of it, or find a way to resolve the issue.

If it is installed try uninstalling KB3087916- Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems. I am getting a different error, #2060, but it started immediately after I pushed out this months Microsoft patches to my test group. On here trying to see if others are having issues and based on looking at the boards I'm leaning heavily to this being the problem.

It's definitely the KB Update... but if you uninstall it, and have automatic updates enabled, it will likely get reinstalled.   Microsoft needs to fix the update.

Windows Update kb3087916 [August] is installing the DEBUG version of Flash ActiveX into IE11 on (32-...

Hi,

If you're on Windows 8.1, Microsoft accidentally released the content debugger version of the Flash Player in the August Windows update (kb3087916), which may very well be the reason why you're seeing the error.  You can install the latest update to Flash Player for Internet Explorer and it will revert back to the previous version. Microsoft will fix this soon in an update. To uninstall the update, go to Windows Update in the Control Panel and then select to view Installed Updates.  Then look for the Security Update for Flash Player for Internet Explorer Update.

Thanks

I'm running IE 11 and having the same error message. I'm not seeing any Adobe Flash Player Updates for IE 11.

As of Sunday, 16 August, 11:23am (USA - Eastern Daylight Saving Time), Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, but has NOT yet issued a fix.   Until they do, there's no update to be found.

I uninstalled the KB3087916 security update but because of my update settings, it kept coming back until I had disabled automatic updating. Seems like this security update affects IE 11 as well as 8.1. So far seems to have eliminated the problem.
