Flash Player/ Shockwave Crashes in IE11 after a few seconds

Hi,

I've noticed that flash crashes after about 3-10 seconds after page load in IE 11, but it's fine in Chrome.

I understand that Flash is embedded in both browsers and they come from the same install, as part of a Windows update.

Why does Flash work in Chrome but not IE11?

Is there any way to fix this in IE other than waiting for the next update?

ActiveX is off.

The icon icon that you're seeing is the Out Of Memory icon.  It occurs when we attempt to allocate memory on the system, but there isn't enough free to even attempt to clean up and recover.  It's really odd that it's getting thrown on the test page, since it doesn't use much memory.

My first recommendation would be to simply reboot the machine, if you haven't done that already.

Programs require free memory, but that memory also needs to be contiguous.  If the machine has been running for a long time without a restart, it's possible that you have free memory, but it's badly fragmented and isn't really available in a useful way.  Simply rebooting the machine should fix this for quite a while.

If that's not what's going on, I'm wondering if maybe the Flash installation is damaged or otherwise wonky.  I'm definitely not able to reproduce this on my Win10 machine, and I have a few browser windows open and am running stress tests in them.
