I downloade flash player version 13 to my computer, Windows Vista 64-bit , Internet Explorer 9 browser, it is enabled in the manage add-on window. How do I open this program? How do I save  videos (.swf format)  and how  do I play them?   Your help would be appreciated

Flash Player ISN'T a program. It's a "plug-in" for your browser. When you visit a page with Flash content, the plug-in is activated automatically, provided it's enabled.

See: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448  and:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968

You CAN'T save videos with Flash Player. It's NEVER had that ability. NEVER. And Internet Exploder doesn't have many (if any at all) extensions that can do it either. Firefox, Chrome and Opera ALL have optional plug-ins that can download video from YouTube, DailyMotion, Yahoo and hundreds of other sites. Most of these add-ons will allow you to save video as FLV, MP4, or WebM, which can be played in VLC Media Player (the Flash Player Projector only plays SWF and some FLV files)

Firefox (from Mozilla)

Opera (from Opera)

Safari (from Apple)

Chrome (from Google)

Thank you for your input to explain regarding my question, which has also educated me on how Flash Player works, in other words if I didn’t have flash player installed and enabled I could not play any video on a web page that has flash content on .

However, if I want to save a video from a web page on internet explorer (it has the extension .swf) into my computer and be able to play that video later how can I do that?...what would you recommend? I have tried with Real Player but unfortunately it does not support this format. Thanks again for your help

RealPlayer will cause all sorts of conflicts with other software from Flash Player to Windows Media Player. Remove it.

There are video downloaders for browsers (IE isn't one that has them), which can be used to save videos from YouTube, etc.

Try Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/)

Then look into BestVideoDownloader: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/Bestvideodownloader2/?src=api

Then you can Download the Windows Flash Player 13 Projector, which is a standalone application. That link isn't an installer. You simply copy it to your Program Files (x86) folder and run it from there.

The video downloaders give you the option of MP4, FLV or WebM to download. Those play better in VLC Media Player though. (http://www.videolan.org/)
