windows 32 bit xp latest update
ie v 8.0.6001.18702 32 bit
firefox 3.6.13
flash player version WIN 10,2,152,32
hello,
after upgrading to the latest flash player version i started to get a strange problem with it. i would get a dual image of the player. the player would have a large green line from right to left in the center. the top and bottom image would be identical.
this only happens with ie and not firefox.
after many hours of trying to correct this...i gave up and use an image of my drive prior to the flash upgrade to fix it. this was fine until today when i decided to upgrade it again and got the same results as b4.
here is a link to what im trying to describe:
i figure ill probably need to correct this as every time i upgrade im going to have this issue.
thanks
any help wold be appreciated

I'm having the same problem. I figured it had something to do with the recent update, and I guess I was right.
I found that you can fix the problem on Youtube videos by switching to 240p, but, for everything else, I think you'll just have to wait until Adobe patches it.
Luckily, it doesn't seem to be happening to all the flash players- Blip.tv seems unaffected, as do Hulu and Ustream.

very interesting...
i never thought of trying to downgrade the resolution to fix...it just an ass backwards way to do things... but your right..that works
i guess for now ill just use firefox until like you said...they patch it
i feel bad that you have the same problem but im kinda relieved that its not anything i did
thanks for the reply
just an addendum.. changing it to 240 fixes it sometimes...not always...

Just an update for those interested-
I just uninstalled Flash Player completely, and installed the old version. All of the Flash Player sites are working without any trouble.
The old version can be downloaded from here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
The zip folder will contain installers for every operating system, so, save it to your desktop, uninstall Flash Player through Add/Remove Programmes, or whatever your OS uses (if you see Flash Player Active X in there as well, leave that where it is- that's what I did, and everything still worked out.), extract the files from the zip folder, and then install whichever version works on your OS.
All of the Flash Player sites will work just as they did before the update.

Most likely you can correct the problem with the dual image and green line by

hi
first thing i tired was to disable the vid accelleration...but that didnt help
also..for whatever reason i cannot completely uninstall flash player via add/removed. when i tried...and install the previous version of flash...even though it says i did removed and downgraded...when playing youtube vid it still says its the newest 10,2+ version and the green line with dual image still remains. for now the only solution for me is to restore a 3 week old image prior to installing the new flash version and NOT reload this version again.
thanks for all the relpies though

Hi, just reading over the comments. If you were having a problem Uninstalling Flash Player from Add/Remove prior to Installing vs 10.2.152.32, then I would think you would have had the same problem Uninstalling that before rolling back.
This is what I would do if I had your system. Whatever Anti-Virus/Spyware program you use may need to be disabled. However if that didn't cause an issue before, then it may not interfere.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for FF- use the EXE Installer for plugin based (from the same site)
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)
If you use Norton or McAfee Anti-Virus, you would want to disable that also as they can block the Shockwave Flash Object.
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Run the Installer for IE, Run the Installer for FF and when finished, Reboot.
Then go to this test site and test each browser:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.

Hi, That's ok. Since you probably restored an older version of Flash Player, you won't have the many security updates that are included with the latest version.
If you decide to try again, just post to this thread you already started. Especially if you use Norton or McAfee AV. They cause an issue with Installing Flash Player.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi - have read these posts but I use a Mac and Intego Virus Barrier... Firefox updated to 3.6.14 and then advised Flash 10 be installed. I did this and now on YouTube videos all I see is a black screen with no play or pause button. System is OS X10.4.11 Have followe Adobe instructions to Uninstall and Re-Install Flash 10. But still browser says Flash 10 needed. Intego has never blocked an update before, maybe it is now. But how do I find out how to safely switch the barrier off and back on again. Would really appreciate help, sad not to be able to view any YouTube. Many thanks, Clare

Hi, There are a couple of things to check with your Mac. Flash Player works thru the browsers and with FF, find the Shockwave Flash plugin and make sure it's Enabled. Do the same with Safari. Once that is confirmed, then go here:
go to this site and right click on the Flash logo, Settings, Display Settings. UNcheck the hardware acceleration.
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
See if this helps.
Thanks,
eidnolb
If that doesn't take care of the issue, then please open a thread and use "Mac" in the subject line.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi eidnolb Appreciate your replying... the Flash plug-in is enabled, but please would you be a bit more specific about your advice:
"
go to this site and right click on the Flash logo, Settings, Display Settings. UNcheck the hardware acceleration.
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ "
When I go to this page no logo appears for me to right click on... any other way of accessing Settings, Display Settings? Thanks, Clare

Hi, If you didn't see the Flash logo(a large red F) as soon as the site opens, then that means the Shockwave Flash plugin is not working. If you saw that, but a Flash ad covered it you can also click on that or any Flash content. A small window opens and you'll see Settings, etc.
You can also do this with a youtube video when it starts running.
Thanks.

Ok, I'll look for your thread next time:-)

Hi m00sehead,
Thank you for sharing your issue here. I am from Flash Player engineering team and I tried searching your issue around. Your issue in the screenshot show very unique issue and it brought me an internal bug that was resolved as video card driver issue by 3rd vendor. In the case of our bug, it was an issue caused in NVIDIA 8600GTS with specific version of GeForce driver, 196.21 and 196.34. The bug was reported almost a year ago and closed after reporting to NVIDIA.
If you still consider to update Flash Player version sometime later, please make sure that your video driver is updated to newest version before updating Flash Player. If you still encounter same problem, please update us with your video card information so that we can investigate the issue further. Again I appreicate your time and effort to report your issue.
Best Regards,
Hitomi Kudo

hello
upgrading to the latest nvida drivers seems to have done the trick. i can now upgrade to the latest flash player without that over/under double image.
i guess you can add 9800 gtx/gtx+ to that nvidia list
thank you for your help
