Flash Player works OK V 10.0.45.2. But can not access the Setting Manager.
Some web pages require third party ok setting, bySetting Manager.
I use FireFox with flash add-on, Vista,Tried this many times, page comes up
But Setting panel does NOT.
Hi, thanks for the info. Your Flash files for FF are correct and the SWF is correct. The Flash files are correct for IE also.
I didn't see the Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx (vs 10.0.45.2) that should be in the IE add ons
and Enabled.
For FF, since your Flash files are correct, then you are going to have to look at either your Anti-Virus/Spyware/Firewall
or an add on(for IE) or plug-in/extension/add on for FF. Something is conflicting and at this point it is hard to tell wha

Thank you eidmolb. I have been to this page many times and clicked each listed under the panel list.
What I see when I click is a very short white box flash, to the right in the black header that says:
This is consistent. Flash Player works OK, except when site requires third party OK. Can't set this, YET !

Hi, ok. Well, let's check the Flash files and make sure they are all correct. Please post back your Vista service pack, whether it is a 64bit or 32bit OS. What version of IE do you use. When you Uninstalled Flash Player and Installed, did you
Install using IE and FF separately?
Thanks,

Hi
eidnolb, OS
is 32 bit, Vista service pack is 65184.
I installed using FF.
I hope this helps BOTH of us..
I understand that these settings can also be done on line, if so how ?
Still get the right page for the panel settings, but all I get when I click on any of the choices is a quick flash
to the right in the BLACK header.

Hi SY.W, thanks. Now the info that pwillener posted has helped various users. I remember reading the thread, so if you want to try that you can. I don't fully understand why that works or why some users have no problem and others do.
I set mine and they are all working and are still as I chose the settings.
My opinion is since all of the Settings are Flash Player related, then if the Flash Player files are not correct, then how can one set the various settings? Like I said, just my opinion. So that is what I would check first.
Ok, go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash Right click on the Flash folder and post back all files listed there.
Each one of the NPSWF files, you will need to right click on and then click on Properties in order to obtain the Version numbers.
Then using FF(Firefox) go to the plug-ins and find SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is Enabled. If there is more than one listed of a SWF, identify it please.
If you have any problem finding the Flash files, let me know.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Post back your Anti-Virus info, with version number. Also in FF are you using ad-block? Do you have any pop up blocker software installed? Any Toolbars that have an add on, etc to affect the browser?
Any add on in the FF or IE browser has an affect on the browser, good or bad.
Thanks,

Oh, whenever I see ad-block, to me it is "Flash block":-)

Hi eidnolb
After setting Flash to allow third party control. I reset Flash and un- checked third party control.
I went back to the Adblock Plus 1.2 and enabled it again.
I noted that clicking options and then clicking the other option setting, displays a setting as follows:
"check show tabs on FLASH & Java" .
With blocker now enabled and set to show tabs for Flash to work, and to show setting panel, ,
I again accessed the Flash setting screen but could NOT see or get to the setting Panel, as BEFORE.
The sites that require third party access again did not work.
Disabling Blocker, resetting Flash to allow third party access, all worked OK.
Hard to understand what the setting in Blocked was suppose to do ?
This may sound confusing but may be of interest to Flash and FF Adblocker Plus 1.2 Users.
Thanks again for you help, and interest in these technical issues.

Being new to this help forum, should this be posted with my original question ?

Hi SY.W, Interesting. I don't use FF myself, but those that do and are having issues with viewing Flash Content or the Settings as you had I always inquire about Ad-Block or now Ad-Block Plus. From my understanding since it blocks ads that use Flash, it must block Flash itself. How else would it work? I don't know. I doubt you can pick and choose which Flash generated ad to block. What about Javascript? Does that enter into it?
Since so many FF users have this, perhaps there is a way to adjust it but I don't know what it is. But even when you set the options to "check show tabs on Flash & Java" that didn't work. Did you try disabling ad-block, then setting Flash to allow thired party control and then enabling ad-block and setting the options for "check show tabs on Flash & Java"?
Maybe that would work? It seems there should be a way, maybe doing a search on the FF forum would be helpful.
Regarding the posting of any info that you would like to post, just use this one if it is the same subject. If it is another subject then I would start a new thread.
Appreciate your feedback as I'm sure this will be helpful to others that have the same problem. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi eidnolb,
You are right, setting Flash first with Adblock off, then turning Adblock on again, ALL WORKS JUST FINE.
You have the right answer or the way to find it all the time.
Thanks to you All

Hi again, well fancy that:-) Now after you did it that way, did you also afterwards need to set the options for the check show tabs on Flash & Java? Just wondering, since this would be good info to keep. I just want to be sure we have the steps down correctly.
A test computer would be great as I could do all kinds of things-LOL
Thanks for the follow up:-)

Hi, That is interesting. Will check it out. Thanks. Just an observation from what I've read about this adblock Plus. It appears that it is a somewhat constant user participation. Whitelists, per website, pages, etc. Trying to find a clear cut way to Uninstall it was a chore. There is even a forum for adblock, which even their search feature I found restrictive to use.
I use IE and don't quite understand the benefit in using it. Pop ups have never been a concern to me since several years ago I got rid of AOL. The ads don't bother me since I make use of the ones I like and ignore the ones I don't.
Why do you use it? Do you have pop ups on all of the web sites you visit? In what way does it benefit you? Hope you don't mind all my questions and don't feel as if you have to answer them. I'm just trying to understand adblock:-)
Maybe I'm missing something but I rather like "set it and forget it" programs. Cannot tolerate constant "Allow?" "Disallow?" activity either:-)
Well, glad your adblock/settings manager issues were solved anyway.

One thing to check is if you have the appropriate permissions in the following folders (use Windows Explorer, and type the addresses into the Address Bar):
It has in the past helped with similar problems just to delete those folders and all their content.
