I receive frequent notices to update my Flash Player. So I go through the process of downloading, etc. Then I receive a message saying that I already have a newer version on my computer. I would really appreciate it if the nuisance message doesn't appear again until my current version is old enough to update. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Hi,
Do you have the latest flash player installed? If no, you might want to update it.
also you can go to System Preferences -> Flash Player -> Updates and "check" whichever option is convenient for you.
Thanks!

The problem is that I often receive the notice to update to the latest. So I do, but when it tries to install it tells me that the version I am already using if more recent than the download I've just done. I would think that if what I have is newer, then it wouldn't want me to download.

Hi,
Please go to Flash Player Help and click the 'check now' button. Post a screenshot of the resulting system information in your reply. See How do I attach a screenshot?
Thank you.

Because Flash Player is ubiquitous, it's often a target for impersonation by attackers trying to get you to load malicious content onto your machine. As technical defenses improve, humans are the weak link, and targeting human factors becomes more common.
A screenshot would be really helpful here.
