I'm trying to get verification if this is accurate or just a hoax? Is there an update to fix this?

It IS accurate.

It ISN'T a Flash security threat as much as an Internet Explorer security threat, so any fix will come from the folks in Redmond.

Personally, I've never been able to stand Microsoft's pitiful excuse for a browser. It uses 1996 security technology (ActiveX controls), and it's always been an unsecure, unsafe, incompatible with most new web standards, problem child among browsers.

MS said they will be pushing a security fix as soon as they get it ready.

It's stuff like this that makes me glad I switched to Mac twelve years ago.
