"Error creating file: 1008:5, -5000 ... on Mac OS X

While some are able to use Disk Utility to repair permissions (plus the chmod suggestion) for at least two users on this board, including myself on two separate MacBooks, this is not working.

The installer is clearly wonked. Maybe it is because I run as non-admin and with FileVault turned on but the reality is that the FlashPlayer installer isn't.

****How can it be expected to work, after all, when it doesn't even ask for an admin password!!!!!****

I have repaired permissions numerous times, chmoded Firefox, restarted, used the Uninstall Utility (which only works from an admin account, by the way), made the permissions wide open on the Internet Plugins folder which is where the install, for me anyway, fails (it seems to be unable to install flashplayer.xpt when it fails), looked in the logs to no avail, tried to install logged in as admin, etc all to NO AVAIL.

Given this is a *security* update there should never be this much angst.

OK, finally got FlashPlayer installed.

It is a [ridiculous] SIX+ part solution.

First, log out of your non-admin account.

Second, log into your admin account. NOTE, you can't just fast user switch as it won't work. This was what prevented it from working for me earlier.

Third, if you are running a non-Safari browser you need to either delete the application or change the permissions on part of the application per this tech note:

Just an fyi, I am posting our issue with this to Macintouch to try and get a wider audience to comment and put some pressure on Adobe to fix this permissions joke once and for all.

Fourth, run Disk Utility and repair permissions.

Fifth, run the installer.

Sixth, if you had to change permissions per the tech note, change them back.

Seventh [optional], run Disk Utility and repair permissions to fix the broken ones from the FlashPlayer install.

For a major software company to be unable to get an installer! correct is really, really embarrassing. It NEVER tells you that it needs to be run from the admin account, probably because the earlier versions would prompt you for your admin password, but this latest update doesn't. Oops.

jehrier's solution doesn't work for me! I have 1.83 GHz Macbook, v10.4.10
I've uninstalled flash, disk repair, re-install etc. I have only 1 account, the main admin user account.
Tried Quicktime un-checking,checking flash settings etc to no avail.
This started after I updated to QT 7.2
Is anybody else still stuck after weeks of flash not working???
