Windows XP sp3 32bit
Firefox 11.0
flash player 11.1.102.63
I noticed that whenever I open Firefox plugin-container.exe comes up in Windows Task Manager. Through trial and eror I figured out that the add-on doing this is the Shockwave Flash. Is this necessary? I can't just disable it either because then when I need it it just comes up asking me to install it. Maybe I answered my own question but I was more thinking why can't it wait to come on till it is needed like the other add-on programs in my add-ons list.

Plugin-container functions like a sandbox to isolate all plugin processes so that in the event of a crash, Firefox will continue to function. If you disable the process, then besides the problem of your browser crashing, you also put your system at risk from exploits.
