Why are Flash games crashing my system?

I play a fair amount of internet games, and flash crashes everytime I play something more than about ten minutes. Visuals don't lag, but mouse and keyboard input slow down so much that it's often impossible to even use the mouse, and it takes 15-20 seconds for keyboard input to be recognized. I have disabled hardware acceleration already. The problem is present with both Chrome and Firefox.

I have 4Gb memory, and during the crashes, Flash is using over 60% of my memory

I'm using firefox 16.0.2, Chrome 23.0.1271.64, and Flash 11.4 r402 on Windows 7 32-bit.

What games/urls are causing this?  Have you found that this also occurs on IE?  Can you also try updating Flash for Firefox to 11.5?

I haven't used IE since 2005.

I just updated to 11.5, still having problems. A couple examples... realmofthemadgod.com and kongregate.com

I often find that video will pause while audio continues on youtube, but it improves when the mouse is moving.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get either RotMD or the Kongregate game to crash.  If possible, I'd recommend these as bugs with crash logs if available.  Here's two FAQs that go over what we'll need:

How do I report a Flash Player crash to Adobe?

How do I report a bug against Flash Player for Google Chrome?

As for the choppy video, I've heard reports of choppiness when moving the mouse (bug 3364432) and we did have a bug in the past that seems similar (3210007) but this should have been fixed back in the 11.3 timeframe.

Can you try disabling hardware acceleration to see if this helps, if it doesn't, then we'll want another bug report on this issue.  Please include a copy of your system's dxdiag report and an exact url to a problematic video.

How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration?

How do I troubleshoot and report problems with Flash Player Video?

Finally, you might also consider dropping back to 10.3 to see if the problems continue on an older version of the player (the latest 10.3 does have our latest security updates.)

How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

I think I figured it out. The wireless optical mouse I was using had a hard

time keeping up with everything else when the system was under load. It

lost sensitivity to surface changes >> poor mouse input. Not a problem with

flash (except I suppose the gigantic memory use). I got a better surface

for the mouse to read, and the problem all but disappeared.
