Why do I keep getting "Error: Failed to register" everytime I try to download Flashplayer?

I have tried all the suggestions and I keep getting "Error: Failed to register".  Why?

As I wonder around the forums and discussions, I see people with MAC's had problems.  I have a PC with XP and It will not accept Flashplayer for IE.  Thoughts?

Use the MSI installer:  http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_13_active_...

It bypasses the ActiveX registration, and cures this.

Mike M:  You, sir, are a genius.  Yes, it worked.  Even though, the installation said that it did not.  I tried three times and kept getting: "Error 1722, Problem with Window Installer Package".  After try number 3, I took a chance, went to Youtube, and it worked!  Thank you.  I still don't think very highly of Adobe but now even less of Microsoft.  I read one of your comments at another thread.  I am becoming a convert that there is a serious problem with Microsoft.  Thank you again.

But do you actually have the latest version installed?  See http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

Pat:

Thanks for lending a hand. To answer your question, yes, I was downloading the latest version to no avail.

Mike M sent me an internet address which did the trick.

I have been reading various forums at Adobe and find that you and Mike help a lot of people. Good for you guys. We, the ignorant and helpless thank you.

LATEST

Pat:

Once I read your question again while in this thread, I realize that you were asking if I had downloaded the latest version with Mike's fix.  The answer is, "Yes". I have the latest version.
