Windows Vista Home Version and Adobe Flash Player 10.

New Here ,
May 24, 2011 May 24, 2011

I use Windows Vista Home Version and I am finding it difficult to download Adobe Flash Player 10.

It appears to have been downloaded but on examining Control Panel, I discovered that its content is empty (no size is aportioned to it).

Most importantly, I am unable to play videos that require adobe flash player.

Hi, Glad that worked for you. Sometimes that DLM causes an issue for some reason or the other.

If you have any issues with the 10.3, post back. A couple of changes have been included. For you with using IE8, I think the only new feature is the Flash Player Settings Manager than you'll find in Control Panel. You'll see the Flash Player there.

Don't forget to mark your thread as answered if you would.

Thanks,

Hi, Using each browser, test here and let me know if you can see the Flash Player logo(Red F) animate(spin). Also for each browser used to test, what Flash Player version is displayed as Installed?

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Flash Player when listed in the Control Panel/Programs & Features won't list any size, as FP is a browser plugin.

When you reply back with the above  results, please list your browsers used and versions.

Thanks,

eidnolb

BTW It is trying to install 10.2 & 10.3

Nothing shows in the programs that Adobe Flash Player was installed and the installation does not complete. Also, I temporarily disabled virus protection while trying to download as was suggested in the download information

Hi, ok. So the only browser you want Flash Player Installed in is IE8?

Is Vista a 32bit or 64bit?

I understand Vista is a 32 bit.

IE 8 is what I have but I would consider IE 9 if that would be necessary.

Just a bit more update. I just tried to download Adobe FP 10 again with the following results, again:

The Adobe Download Manager windows shows:

FP 10.3 Status as 100% "Installation Pending".

FP 10.2 Status as 100% " Instatlling Application"

and that will go one forever but never really actually installs anything and just keeps cycling through the "Add to Download" e.g. "Fanbase", "Times Reader"

and "Adobe Air" (none of which I want added to the download), and the download and installation shows as 100%.

Go figure!

Hi, ok thanks. We're going to do a manual Uninstall/Install and avoid the Download Manager. We'll stay with IE8 since it's already Installed. You will be disabling your Anti-Virus program and will be offline until this is done. In the steps listed, I'll just say Disable Anti-Virus, etc.

Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any instant messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)

Disable any Anti-Virus

Be sure to use the Administrator Account.

Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure the Anti-Virus is still Disabled
Run the Installer for IE,  and when finished, Reboot.

Re-enable your Anti-Virus

Then go to this test site as you did before

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.

Let me know if you have any question on disabling the Anti-Virus.

Thanks,

eidnolb
