Good Morning,

We are troubleshooting an issue with out most recent deployment of Adobe 28.137 via SCCM. On some computers receiving the update, the installation comes down however is not recognized by IE. Add/remove programs show that all components of 28.137 are installed however running the Flash test from Adobe's website states that no Flash player is installed. We are also accessing an internal website for finance that relies on Flash, it too is not picking up the install. Could this be an issue related to the uninstaller? We do have a machine we're able to replicate this issue on. It would be nice to understand if there's something in our package or deployment process causing this problem.

Could it be that Flash is disabled in the browser?  Most browser's disable Flash by default, forcing user's to enable Flash, depending on the browser, this will be for each site, and sub-domain site visited (e.g. www.adobe.com and helpx.adobe.com would be considered separate sites)

Please provide the following information for both impacted, and not impacted systems (based on your comment in sounds like some systems are not impacted).

  • Operating system, including version
  • Browser, including version
  • Difference between impacted and non impacted systems
  • Are the users standard or admin users

For an impacted system, provide the following log files for the same installation attempt (you may need to perform the installation again to obtain these files, unless you've already generated them):

  • MSI log file with the options v+x (verbose + extra debugging)
  • FlashInstall log file(s) saved at the following location:
    • 32 Bit Windows: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashInstall32.log
    • 64 Bit Windows: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashInstall64.log AND C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash\FlashInstall32.log - both files are required from a 64-bit OS

Upload the log files to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a file using Adobe Document Cloud , or some other file sharing service of your choice that doesn't require account log-in to access.  Post the links to the uploaded files in your reply.

Flash is not disabled in the browser.

Windows 7 64bit SP1

IE11

Non-Impacted systems and impacted systems have one difference the fact that the Adobe 28.137 version is installed but will not run. Non-imapacted systems are running the same standard image and received the same deployment package from SCCM.

All the users are standard

None of the 'MSI Logs' files provided are for Flash Player.  Those are for other Adobe products.

MSI installer doesn't generate a log file unless you've specifically either configured the system to generate a log file, or run the installer with the argument to generate a log file.

You'll most likely need to run the MSI installer again, specifying to generate a log file.  I'll then need this MSI log file and the updated FlashInstall32.log and FlashInstall64.log files.  Essentially, all 3 need to be for the same installation attempt as we'll need to match data between them.
