It's probably a simple thing but I've tried everthing I can. Every video I look at online is too dark. Does anyone have any suggestions or know how to adjust video settings(brightness)

Hi All,

Flash Player does not control the video brightness or contrast of video settings. This would first be determined when the video is produced, and after that through monitor / screen settings.

Please send an example URL with a video that I can check on my machine. If it is every video, it is most likely related to your specific system.

Hi garethireland,

Are you seeing a difference with these specific videos, or is it all videos on the web?

Select Start and choose Run. Type in ‘dxdiag’ and you can find all your systems info. The information that would be most helpful would be for your video card and monitor.

Hi

I revive this thread because I get the same problem, and it seems you didn't resolved it.

The problem is that we get a picture too dark from video, on Youtube, for exemple. (Use that one if you like an exemple. The problem is not that the original video is too dark, it happen very often http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0gL_pW7hxg&feature=related)

This is related to Flash Player, because I can adjust the brightness of the same video on other programs, like Window media player.

This is a brightness issue because I can get a good picture of said video (on Youtube, for exemple) by meddling with my video card settup on brightness. I can get a bright enough picture by bringing the brightness UP.
Doing this doesn't really resolve the issue, because ALL of the screen get brighter.

I would like to adjust the brightness of the video Flash Player is playing.
Now, I have two questions:
Is it possible ?
If yes, how ?

I'm adding this: I tried to adjust the brightness on my Video Card settup, "S3Overlay", but I get this message:
Color setting cannot be adjusted because:
- Video most be running before starting this utility [But I tried to open it while a video was running with FP, on Youtube, for exemple]
-The video file is not recognized as YUV-formatted-data [What does that mean ? The problem is the same on other web, site, like "wideo.fr", etc. Doesn't seem to make a difference if it's .avi or else ?]
-Direct Draw cannot create a YUV surface:...etc [??]

Hi Bebilith

Your graphics card driver is from 2004. Have you tried to update it?

Flash Player does not control the brightness or contrast of video. This would be the monitor, graphics card, and how the video was produced. If you want me take a look at your machine, please open a free case and reply with the case number.

Thanks for your help.

It would be nice if the next version of the player control the brightness or contrast of video. ;)

I didn't knew this forum was for user-to-user to answer. Double thanks then ! 😃

That would be a nice addition to the next flash player. Maybe a right-click menu with a Preferences page.
