Do you need a license to use .flv files on youtube etc

Are .flv files still classified .flv files if they were put into a video editor and came out as a .vp9 file

Do you ever need to pay for using .flv files

Where can i find the license for the .flv file

I know for Mp4s you have to pay, so I wanted to find out if you had to pay if you earnt money off .flv files, like by monetizing youtube videos etc

you don't pay container, you pay the encoder... for mp4 if you encode in H264 so yes there is a patent on it, but with adobe media encoder it should be ok. for flv same story.
