This is an issue that has been bugging me over the past couple of weeks that I would really like solved, as there appears to be no solution that works. Whenever I try to play any flash-based game on any site using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, most of the keyboard is unresponsive if it is required to perform an action (eg: moving, jumping, etc...) I recently got the arrow keys to work, and the mouse has always worked, but the letter/number/other command keys that perform actions do not work. Whenever I try to perform an action, nothing happens, and occassionally a volume box appears at the top of the flash game and will alternate between no volume and half volume after ~ 5 rapid keystrokes. In addition, when trying to change key bindings, all keys besides the arrow keys act like numbers. To clarify, say I want to change a key to the letter "a". I press the action, and press "a", but it shows up as "2". I click the action again and press "a", but it shows "3". It will cycle through all the digits.
Now I have been looking everywhere for solutions, and none work. For chrome, I have updated to newer versions, I have disabled each of the flash plugins (first the chrome one, then the general/mozilla one). Those have not worked. I tried switching back to mozilla firefox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash, with no success. But, on IE, the flash games work fine, with all keys working. Only problem is that I don't use IE
. So, how do I fix either chrome or firefox (or both) so my keyboard will act correctly.

Let me know if you need any more information.
