Using Mac with browser Firefox. The Flash Player is verified current 26,0,0,131 as of Jun 19, 2017. Over the last day or two continue to get popups for update. How do I stop that?
There is no Macromedia file in library/application support/
BTW We always go to Adobe Flash website to download (never through a popup).
Please send specific instructions to correct this recurring popup. Thank you.
The reason the update notification keeps displaying is because the PPAPI plugin (used by Chromium-based browsers, such as Opera) is out-dated (by at least 3 releases). If you don't use a Chromium-based browser you can uninstall it. If you use a Chromium-based browser please update it to the latest version.
Note that at this time, there is no way to uninstall only the PPAPI plugin. Running the uninstaller will uninstall both the PPAPI plugin and the NPAPI plugin (used by Safari and Firefox) and

Hi,
Flash Player plugin is not saved to the library/application support/ directory. It is a browser plugin, and thus saved at /Library/Internet Plug-ins.

Thank you for the clarification about the location of the preferences.
There have been no further update alert popups since posting the ticket. The update popup occurred three four times over two days after updating.

Your explanation makes this much clearer.
The only reason to ask about uninstall/install was in the case that it would be needed. Understanding how to use the Mac System Preferences | Flash Player | Update makes this easy to understand. Your explanation about how to determine which browser/plugin is out of date and triggering the alert was also helpful.
Firefox and Safari use the NPAPI plugin
Chrome (and Opera) use the PPAPI plugin
I can see that there may be a distinction made by the alert popup as to which browser/plugin is out of date. But the popup does not provide that information. Security steps suggest going directly to the Adobe Flash Player website for download, not through any popup. Since I always go the Adobe | Flash Player | update from Firefox, I would not be downloading the plug in for other browser/plugins. I didn't know that previously.
If there is anything related that I should be aware of, please let me know.

Please put forward as a user recommendations
The alert popup should be smaller and along the 'edge' of the screen. At present it blocks the view of anything on the screen and won't go behind. It is rarely possible to stop everything and update.
This is made more difficult because the browser must be restarted, which is rarely possible in the middle of working.
Further, the smaller 'edge' popup should expand to say what browser and what numbered update is needed.
