I am having trouble getting quality images from 3DVia into FrameMaker 8.
Has anyone been using 3DVia? If so, how is the quality of your exported graphics?
Thanks, John

John,
What format are you using for the exported graphics? Have you checked if Acrobat Pro Extended converts 3DVia content to PDF? This might be one possible route to take into FM.

I have tried all the export types 3DVia has available jpg, tiff, bmp and png.
png seems to work the best. I am suppose to get some new software to convert to pdf soon, so I will see how that works.
Thank You, John

Some time ago, I evaluated version 6.1 or 6.2 of 3Dvia Composer. My experience then was that TIFF images were good quality, but their dimensions did depend not only on the export settings in 3Dvia's Illustration module but on the viewport dimensions. CGM was the format of choice for line art. EPS output was of a useless quality.
How do the graphics look before you insert them into FM? If the images are not so nice from the beginning, you could ask for advice at the 3Dvia forum at http://forums.3dmojo.com.

The images look very good in 3DVia - as long as I use anti-aliasing first.
I like using 3DVia to change the look of the SolidWorks file and then manipulate the model to the view I want.
Perhaps, as you suggest, I should try using a larger paper size that would allow for better compression at export.
Thank You, John
