Hello!
I was trying to navigate through mapping cross-references in my Adobe FrameMaker document to appropriate HTML tags. I see that the cross-reference dialogue box does not let me change the Element Tag from "Unstructured" to an "<a>" tag.
Any idea how I can accomplish that?
Thanks!

What version of FM? Structured or Unstructured?

We're currently using 2022. I'm not sure about structured or unstructured, but the context is to map the cross reference link to a suitable HTML tag when the .fm file is exported as an HTML to meet AA accessibility standards.

Let's see a screenshot of your Publishing Settings for HTML5 output. Use the "Insert Photos" icon to put it in the post.

Thanks for the super quick response. Here's a screenshot of our cross reference dialogue box, and our cross-reference macros in the reference pages. We are publishing a Responsive HTML 5 document.

No, not the xref screen - the Publish > Settings screen.

I think you want to be looking at the Style mapping tab...

When publishing as HTML5, there are elements that do not necessarily make a lot of sense in an online context. Chapter numbers, for instance. So the HTML settings for cross references allow you to change, what is a print form cross reference like "See Chapter 5, How to Install", to "See "How to Install" using variables.

Thank you for sharing this!
I was trying to understand how I could go about making changes to some of the unstructured element tags in an HTML. Within the cross-refernece dialogue in one of my screenshots above, I meant to change the element tag from "unstructured" to <a> tag. Should I be changing the output style in that case? Please advise.
Thanks!

You want to map your paragraph tag of "L2 Heading_1" to something different in the HTML5 output. Your xref info stays the same inside the FM document; all you want to do is map the paragraph tag to some FM_ style that can be formatted by your CSS file.
