Rookie framemaker user here and I have been trying to finad a solution for a couple hours

.  I have an existing framemaker document that I need to add a few paragrapghs in.  Each paragraph is nu

mbered.  I want the added paragrapgh to be numbered correctly but the number

it is getting labeled is 0.0.1.  I need it to be 3.10.10 the next paragrapgh number.  How can I do this?

Obviously I need some serious training.  Thanks!

First guess would be that you're not applying the correct paragraph format.

Go to one of the 'graphs that's numbered correctly, right click, and select Copy Paragraph Format.

Go to your new 'graph and paste and see what happens.

P.S. If this doesn't work, or in the future, include your system specs: FM (and maybe Acrobat) version, OS, RAM, and so on.  Makes trouble shooting easier....

Thanks for the help Art - That did not solve my

problem.  I am using FM 9 and Windows 7 with a two week old Lenovo Thinkpad.

I tried edit --> copy special -->  paragrapgh format of the previous paragrapgh number then edit --> paste --> in the location of the new parapragh.

I have tried also using the paragrapgh designer and selecting the same paragrapgh tag as the correctly formatted paragrapgh  clicking apply and I end with 0.0.1 and not the correct 3.10.10 I am looking for.  Very frustrating.

Any other suggestions?

Danske,

legacy documents can be in terrible shape, against all best practice rules. Sigh...

If you could post a screenshot of that page segment with borders and special symbols visible, we might spot the problem a little bit easier.
