applying character formats to autonumber text

Obviously, I am very new to this. I am trying to learn on the fly to complete an urgent project. This should be very simple, but I've searched for about 5 hours and haven't found the answer anywhere.

I have created an EDD which seems to be working fine except that I want to apply bold formatting to some autonumber text in a couple of the elements.

I have an element named B defined which is a character format that applies bold text to a text range.

I have a couple of other elements defined that include PropertiesNumbering tags in the ParagraphFormatting tag. All of the autonumbering properties are working with the exception of the AutonumCharFormat tag.

The AutonumCharFormat tag takes only text as input so I have entered B in that tag to refer to the B element that is defined to provide bold to a text range. I was assuming that this would apply bold formatting to the autonumbering text, but no go. I've tried several other things, and searched all over the place, but I can't find any piece of documentation anywhere that tells me what I'm supposed to type (or what syntax I'm supposed to use) in the AutonumCharFormat tag to apply the bold formatting to the autonumber text. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Wil-e,

You have to enter the name of a »Character Format« available in the template to achieve the desired effect.

This happens in the formatting domain, so it has nothing to do with elements which live in the structure domain — I invented those terms on-the-fly…

Thanks for this and your previous advice. Worked like a charm.

I'm not all the way there yet on this project but definitely making progress.
