I am using Framemaker Version 16.0.1.817
I have a frame document in japanese language with font Noto Sans JP. When I create a pdf, the font is not displayed correctly in the output pdf. If I use the option "Use Distiller", then the fonts are displayed correctly, but png graphics with transparent background are not displayed transparent in pdf output.
This is a dilemma: either the font is correct or the graphics. But I need both.
How to solve this?
Thanks, Rainer

If you have naive machine you can use for testing, you might download the trial version of FM2022 and see if this problem has been fixed.
Meanwhile, what what does "font is not displayed correctly" mean, and is the problem specific to that font? How do other Asian fonts behave?
And, while this might not be the situation, I see that Noto Sans JP includes 65536 glyphs. That means that at least 10,000 of them are not Unicode BMP (U+FFFF and lower), but are in one or more of the Supplementary Planes. SMP codepoints (U+10000 and up) don't work at all yet in FM.

Hi Rainer,
First thing what I would do is to update to FM update 5!
And yes, if possible also to FrameMaker 2022.
You should be able to get your transparency also with Distiller! Search for transparency in this forum. If you do not find a solution, I will check this again.
But of course the characters should be displayed correctly also with FrameMaker's own PDF engine.
By the way, are only Asian characters changed? Or also those with a Western font?
Best regards
Winfried
